WD Elements 2TB Ext USB 2.0 HDD $58 BF deal @ frys.com LOCAL PICKUP ONLY
Just a headsup on yet another HDD at a slick price, especially for those that are wary of Seagate HDD reliability, etc., etc.; Fry's is offering the Western Digital Elements 2TB External HD at $58. As previously discussed in this thread, the deal on this particular model is available ONLY for online ordering w/in-store pickup.
The external enclosure is USB 2.0, shipping is NOT an option, and the drive inside the enclosure is most likely a WD "Green" drive with a 5900 RPM spindle speed (...according to previous threads, etc.). NOTE: Some buyers have "gutted" their Elements enclosures to find Caviar Black 7200 rpm drives in the past, including yours truly (Target's BF2010 @$69)....
All-in-all, not a bad BF deal for those looking for cheap, reliable storage. I ended up pulling mine some time ago and installing it into my HTPC, which is still going strong after over 2+ years.

Info From Page1 AdScan: Fry's BF deals go LIVE online at 9AM PST. B&M stores are CLOSED Thanksgiving Day and are open from 6:00AM - 10:00PM on Black Friday. Product pickup is available in-store after 9AM.

Geez, I hope so...hopefully those restrictive terms in the ad do not apply to this unit. From my past experience ordering from Fry's on BF, they usually place such restrictions on heavy and/or bulky items (like TVs and such). Seems to me that this deal is a "born to ship" joint. I would still check the direct link at 9AM PST once it goes LIVE to be sure. Also, FYI, sometimes Fry's takes a bit of time to activate (ie; turn LIVE) their sales links on BF, so either keep refreshing until it goes LIVE or try calling in.
Well, should those terms truly stick, I would try a PM at a local B&M or perhaps Amazon. Of course, on BF, YMMV big time as most retailers don't PM on requests.
