Darn. Just picked up at mwave for $355 yesterday. At least it already shipped, but shop runner woulda been nice. This should be popular considering how many people got in on the seagate deal yesterday!

I'd love to be able to compare Synology specs over model years. I think this thing is roughly the same as the DS411, right? Would this be able to transcode and stream simultaneously? I know people were pretty happy with the DS411.

Hey, I have the DS1511 and when researching transcoding and streaming, it seems like the 411j cannot stream/transcode. Do some more research on it.

As an FYI, while Plex is awesome, it's not flawless. I've spent numerous hours troubleshooting issues with my DS1511 and Roku box. I picked up a new router recently and will try to see if that helps. Based on my experiences, it's a combination of processing power on the Synology along with bandwidth on the wireless, with the latter being the bottleneck.

From my experience if you are looking for transcoding you will be most satisfied by building a windows home server and running a hardware or software raid. If anyone knows of a decent nas that will transcode well, please let me know.
