T-Mobile has the no annual contract 4G Mobile Hotspot for $35, including a free $25 refill card and free shipping. This is normally $115 at Walmart without a $25 refill card. The $25 refill card will get you 1.5 gigs for a month. Happy Thanksgiving!!!

YOU CAN NOT use this with the walmart 60 day card. ONLY Hoptspots pruchaced at walmart can use the special "60 day" walmart card. This unit will only give you 30 days on the $35 card.

Want to unlock this device? Yes you can but notice that

ZT61 supports this bands
GSM/GPRS: 1900 MHz;UMTS: Band IV (1700/2100)

As of 24-Dec-2011 the AWS Band or Band IV is used only by the following carrier:
- USA: T-Mobile, Cincinnati Bell Wireless
- Canada: WIND Mobile, Mobilicity, Videotron
- Chile: VTR, Nextel

So as long as you plan to unlock it to use with the above carriers then it will work

Got this. Grateful for advice... Have post-paid account with no data active, no longer under contract.

check this out:

"Special discount for T-Mobile voice plan customers only. Includes unlimited Wi-Fi access to the T-Mobile HotSpot Network nationwide". "$9.99/mo charges billed monthly until cancelled NO ANNUAL COMMITMENT REQUIRED"

It would seem that I have several options.
1. create a pre-paid plan with this device
2. subscribe as above$9.95mo on post-paid

Do not know if this will serve my at-home needs so that I can cancel cable internet. I do not travel most of the year but when I do, perhaps 4 week vacation, having internet would be nice. What makes the most sense? As an added note, t-mo cell signal only in one room of home. Can one use an antenna with Hotspot device? T-MO Voice currently not reliable enough to discontinue phone company wire line.

Have heard that a device exists to connect t-mo cell to cable router (would allow me to drop wire voice line).

Any help in selecting lowest cost options for data and voice would be appreciated. Feel free to pm me. Thanks.

I don't know much about antennas for this thing but would this [] one work?

ZTE MF61 T-Mobile 4G I believe that is the proper model number that should be in the wiki. The link no longer brings up the data plans. Calling tmo for details is useless. The thread has already made it clear that once you load the $25 card the 30 day clock starts ticking and any unused MB go up in smoke. Not a good deal for those buying these for occasional access on short trips.

edit: Prepaid Mobile Broadband Plans: Service available for time period and/or usage amount provided by Pass. For time period, a day is 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m., based on time zone associated with account phone number. Usage rounded up to the nearest KB each session; 1024 KB = 1 MB. Only one Pass may be active at a time. Account suspended after 365 days of inactivity. Data only; does not include voice, messaging or Wi-Fi services. Apps & 3rd Party Content: Use of some content, features, or services may incur separate, additional charges and/or require a qualifying data plan or access to Wi-Fi connection.

note: does NOT work the same as pre-paid pay-as-you go voice plans although it ought to. Could conceivably cost someone $25 to check their email just once when away from home yet a 7 or 30 day pass does not provide enough MB for many intensive users. Can loose data if you reach the limit during use.
