Costco Neato Robotic Floor Vacuum XV-14 $249 NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE (BF Deal)

Darn you beat me by a minute I just purchased one and was about to post the deal. Anyway, great deal, repped, and thanks!

Here are some of my thoughts on the unit. Keep in mind this is my experience only:

This is my 4th unit from Costco now. I really, really want to this vacuum to work properly, but I have had numerous issues. The first one worked well for over two months and then stopped being able to return to its base by itself. (note that when it did work, it was the most awesome feeling to come back to a vacuumed apartment). The second one was similar but experienced this problem within two weeks. The third one got the infamous "my left wheel is stuck" error within the first week. I keep coming back to the Neato because I've invested a lot on additional magnetic strips and really like the unit when it works.

This is actually a great deal because the unit is from Costco which means that you have a GREAT return policy. This is especially important for robot vacuums.

Thanks for the breakdown. You make a great point about the return policy - I've always wanted to try one of these things, but was afraid that I'd run into problems down the road and not be able to return it. Are you using yours on carpet or hardwood? It *seems* to me that the robot would have an easier time moving around on hardwood (perhaps the wheels would not get caught by carpet fibers and such), but that's no more than an educated guess. I'm also a little concerned about noise. I've heard that these things can be quite loud, despite their small size.

I'm using it in my 700 square feet apartment. It has carpet everywhere except in the kitchen.

It is pretty noisy. That's why I schedule it to start while I'm at work. Good luck!

Thanks again. I wonder what these robots do while we're away. I always thought the premise of Toy Story was plausible.

Does this fall under the 90 day return policy at Costco for electronics or just the anytime return at Costco? Does anyone know?

just wanted to let everyone interested know that the xv-14 i just picked up at costco is actually version 3.0 hardware/software (equivalent to xv-21)

Thanks for that. Trying to decide where/which to buy. I don't think I care about the better filter, but I really want the xv-21 brush because it's supposed to be a lot quieter.
