you are absolutely right, and that was my 1st thought, get a direct exchange from walmart since they cant pricematch the price anymore due to the sale on black friday. unfortunately no walmart around me has any in stock, and they will not price match it for me since they would have to order it themselves and stock it first. So i went online, you will be surprised, just look at the # of complaints in the review section on walmart.com and the # of complaints in amazon.com it is pretty obvious that this tv has major issues from the audio out of sync, to the tv backlight failing, it is pretty common common enough that there is a thread on avsforum.com that is asking owners how many vizio e601i-a3 you have had to replace, the serial # of the model # trying to determine if vizio released a bad lot. do some more research and you will find out that vizio will indeed repair your tv within the 1x year warranty time, however a repair will be tried first, and if that doesnt work they send you a refurbished unit with, either way it drops your warranty from 1x year to 90xdays, not to mention people are complaining its taking about 1x month since calling vizio, getting tech support, find out its unfixable and then wait for a refurbish unit that only offers 90 day warranty. the smart thing is walk away from this tv if you had a issue with yours, maybe you got lucky and got a good batch, hope you dont have to deal with what im going through. |

My picture went out as well after 6 weeks. I exchanged it at Walmart and purchased the squaretrade warranty this time but the next day the left speaker went out on the new set! I am using external speakers (Z5500) so I don't mind too much if the sound doesn't work. Hope the picture stays working

My picture went out too, I bought a Panasonic problem solved.
Although does sound like the newer serial number models have been working (well at least so far) mine lasted 60 days... and went out xmas morning of all times ![]()

The picture/backlight has been great on my second Vizio with no audio sync issues (serial #45) but the left speaker went out after a couple days and sounds all crackly. EDIT: Just got back from Walmart now on my THIRD Vizio and I hope it will be the last! I snagged their last one, a higher serial number too #48. Initial impressions are good, the backlight looks great, no awful bleeding like on the first set from Black Friday. Still have the older 1.4 firmware, but I assume it will update itself sometime soon. FINGERS CROSSED ON 3RD TIME'S A CHARM Last edited by JakesCakes; 02-04-2013 at 01:46 PM.. |

Reading some of the AV forums, looks like Vizio is either replacing the TV entirely or having the mainboard replaced. |

Wouldn't fix + extended warranty be better? Do you know if they replace it with a brand new TV or is it like a refurb'd TV? |

I have heard that the newer serial numbers have less light bleed and such. My reason for a brand new one, is this is the 4th TV I've had since November and the replacement will be the 5th. Dealt with Walmart for the first 4 TV's then decided I'd had enough and went to Vizio. |
