Is this the STCA3000101? If so, be very careful when you receive the drive. Listen for any strange noises. I bought this from Amazon last month. It took 5 exchanges before I finally got one without any issues. (time-consuming, but Amazon.com was extremely nice and exchanged/picked-up all 5 bad ones free of charge) Since this is Costco, I'm sure they'll also have no problem exchanging it.
#1 drive - three short "click-click-click" noise nonstop as soon as I plugged the adapter in(before even plugging into the PC) it was "click-click-click" followed by 1 second of silent, then "click-click-click" again... and just repeated that continuously...
#2 drive - I tried to partition it to two partitions, failed to format... Seagate diagnostic software reported the drive as failed
#3 drive - same click-click-click noise, only louder
#4 drive - would not power on, tried several other adapter from my other Seagate externals drive, still wouldn't power on
#5 drive - loose USB connector
#6 drive - still running perfectly after 3 weeks. (but almost 90% full... need bigger drive )
It didn't occur to me until the 5th exchange that I should have given up... since all 5 bad drives probably came from the same batch and were manufactured within days of each other.
