Looking for new credit cards

I got 422 cash back last month after one year of using this card. Its the American Express Blue Card that gives 6% cash back on gas, 3% on groceries, and 1% for everything else.

There is a annual fee of 75.00 but its off set by the large return.

The thing is even though its a credit card, I pay it off in full at the end of every month. I dont recommend you have more than 4 credit cards at the most. If you have more than that, then you are headed for a life of debt.

Preferably looking for a card with no annual fee (just a personal preference).

The top cards at the moment seem like Chase Freedom (even though it isn't as good as it used to be) and the Amex Blue.

Currently we have BOFA cards and if we go with the Amex we might keep the BOFA just in case we go to somewhere that doesn't accept Amex but if we go with the Chase Freedom we might just get rid of the BOFA cards all together.

Is there a big difference between the Freedom and Blue card other than the Freedom having select categories monthly where you get 5% cashback? The Blue seems like the better option because you get more return on gas and supermarket every month of the year.

We do both have checking accounts at Chase if that helps at all.

The no-annual fee version of what linuxworkss described (Blue cash preferred) is called Blue cash everyday. Both of these cards phased out the old AMEX Blue card.

I have the blue cash everyday and it gets my top recommendation. No annual fee and no rotating categories, and I get 3% on groceries, 2% on gas/dept stores, and 1% on everything else. Chase freedom and Discover It/More gets my second vote. In fact, both of these cards in conjunction with blue cash everyday makes a great trio of cash back machines.

I like my Chase Freedom.. got $475 in rewards after a year.
