I, too, got my 688 vizio canceled because I used Discovercard. I talked to both Discover card and Walmart.com yesterday after the fraud alert and was told everything was now fine that the order should go through. Got the email last night that it was canceled.
I tried to talking to Walmart.com and they were friendly but not ultimately helpful as they refused to honor the price (even though it is in stock) and ultimately put the blame squarely on Discover. The supervisor I spoke to at Walmart.com said whatever Discover was using to "process" Walmart.com purchases yesterday was declining most, if not all, of the purchases. I pleaded and pleaded that Walmart should "be the bigger man" and step up to rectify the situation since they are the retailer here, but he wouldn't do it. His supervisor is supposed to call me back but I'm not optimistic there. Going to try talking to Discover card next. When this cost me more than $310, 5% or even 10% cashback doesn't like much. |

Exactly the same situation here. 30 minute conversation with walmart's CS and supervisors got me nowhere. Going to try Discover next but it looks like I'm going to have to shell out the higher price or keep looking. |

I emailed corporate from the contact us link in my discover account and basically wrote how upset I was and How I lost 300 dollars from this, I told them that the person I spoke to said I was lucky to get the measly $40 credit they gave me and that I was disappointed in discover and didn't expect this from them.

Took asking a Discover card supervisor to send me to another supervisor (I think a lateral move) and pleading my case again but I was able to get a $200 credit applied to my Discover account for my trouble. So I guess if you have tried and not gotten much or got nothing at all you might try again. My first try got me through to the Utah call center. My second try was at the Ohio call center.
I can't quite figure out what happened here. Walmart seems to think it was something widespread with Discover Card yesterday but Discover Card says no that Walmart should have tried to run it through again. So both are playing the blame game and not very willing to help make the customer right. |

Are you sure these aren't the $200 you're already getting for opening the card and spending $1500? The rep told me that I'll get this bonus and I answered "well, I would get that if I bought groceries for the same amount too, why do you even bring it up?".
Discover admitted to blocking the transactions. However, this is standard practice with all credit cards - they may block a trx for you from time to time if they feel it's fraudulent. The problem is that walmart was very comfortable in just cancelling these and avoiding selling them to us than to actually call us and ask for a different card or allow us 24-48 hours to talk to our card and have them try again. |
