This is a particularly good option since Newegg is out of stock already and was only about a dollar less. I checked a few other authorized resellers offering the TP-link $40 rebate, and this seems to be the next lowest price and in stock (last I looked). B&H Photo is~ 3rd best, but currently back-ordered 7-14 days and costs closer to $49 after rebate.

Maybe they're going in/out of stock? I went there just now after I read your post and it's still showing in-stock and had no problem adding to card (then removed, since I already ordered one). You might want to try again.

I've been going back and forth between the 2-antenna (WDR3600) and 3-antenna (WDR4300) versions, and still can't decide which to choose. According to the only review I can find comparing these two specific models (review is here [hardware.info]), the WDR3600 is faster in just about every test scenario, though it's slower on paper. It seems the only time the 4300 pulls ahead is from utilizing the 5ghz band with multiple devices (which is what I assume most people will be doing). But when using the 5ghz band with only one device, the 3600 is still supposedly superior, which strikes me as very interesting.

Just some food for though for those like me trying to pull the trigger on a new router. I'd spring for the $130 Asus N66u, but I don't think I can justify spending 3x as much on a router for my particular use.

Even with 3 computers, only the receive is faster, while the transmit is slower.

It may be the Intel chips' fault in that review.

If you can find a 3-stream wifi adapter with a similar chipset to the 4300, I'm sure the speeds would be higher.

Look for the Atheros chip based adapters. Post it somewhere public so we can all see the results.

3-stream has been generally underwhelming. It's probably just not mature enough yet.
The only benefit I've heard anyone say of 3-stream is better stability at higher throughput. And even those were marginal at best.

Thanks for this. I decided to get the 3600 after reading this review. I used a $10 off $75 coupon at J&R since I was already buying the sennheiser cx870 earbuds there so cost will be $24 for the 3600 after coupon, rebate and discover cashback. Can't justify the $40 that newegg was charging me (due to tax and less cashback) after rebate for the 4300 if the performance is no better and might be worse.
