my first case with the antec 900 and i got this couple months ago for $100. this blows the antec 900 out of the water and is so easy to work with. awesome cable management and just the right size. love the air filters. if you get this case i suggest you buy an air filter for the side so your case stays dust free. i got the demcifilter for $20... well worth the money spent.

I just bought this case for my new build.
Can you provide a link for the airfilter you mentioned? Thanks.

Between this case and the Antec Eleven Hundred case for 56 dollar AR, which wins and is a better value and better case overall? http://slickdeals.net/f/5558908-A...-56AR-Frys
Also they got the Antec 900 V3 for 70 dollars AR as well... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...6811129097 |

The Antec 900 was my first case, and while it was pretty sleak, didn't like it's dimensions, I felt it was too narrow. I owned the HAF 932 for a few years, and that is was one of my favorite cases I've worked with, and I build pcs for people. It was insanely roomy, had PLENTY of fans, and kept temps to a minimum. The biggest downfall was the fact that it attracted dust like a magnet. I also wanted a newer case with USB 3.0 ports, and I love the look of the white 500R. The 500R is very sleak looking. It's not as tall or as heavy as the HAF 932 (which was mostly steel), it is probably as wide, if not wider. Right now, my build has a 2600K running slight overclocks, 16gb of ram, 2 crossfired XFX 6870's, and 2 SSDs and 2 mechanical HDDs. The cpu idles between 26-31 Celsius. When running IntelBurnTest in Standard, the max cpu temp is 51 Celsius. The Radeons run around 36 C, the other 39 C at 20% fan speed. After intense gaming sessions for extended time, they can get up in the 50s, but, only at 40-50% fan speed. I haven't had to go much higher. They are running stock clock speeds. The case gets normal dust buildup, nowhere near the amount that the HAF used to. And I have cats. I've brushed hair from the vents several times, but I've only opened the case to air blast it once. The cpu cooler (Cooler Master 212+) was in the worst shape. With my HAF, I opened the case probably every 3 weeks to clean it out. I've only added 2 ball-bearing fans to the top of the case, for a total of 6. The case sits on the floor next to my desk. Fan noise is barely noticeable, and waaayyyy less than my 360 or PS3. The HAF may have been slightly quieter, but that was probably due to the larger fans it held. It really isn't noticeable at all and is probably more to blame on my paranoia. One thing I love is how it was difficult for me to sleep at night with the Antec 900 and HAF lights being so bright. The 500R lights aren't intrusive at all, and I love the option to turn them, off. I was also worried about the white getting scratched or dulled out over time. No such problems for me. It's just as white as ever, and I have things laying next to it constantly bumping into it and no paint has scratched off. Overall, great case. Very happy with it and you can't beat it for the price. Now you said you had dust on Cooler Master 212+. I'm also planning to get either that or 212 Evo but when you said you only opened once to see that, how long since you first installed? And how easy/hard was it to clean off the dust off 212+? First time builder here for myself... Also any recommendations on the fans on top since there's spaces for two and you mentioned you got two. |
