Amazon has the The Complete Calvin and Hobbes [amazon.com](v. 1, 2, 3) Hardcover Box Set for $50.69 and you get free shipping. Average regular price is in $90.89.

From my search this looks like the lowest price in years.

Get the paperback version of the complete collection for cheaper (which in turn makes it a better Christmas present!).

Barnes and Noble [barnesandnoble.com] has it for $50, use coupon code T9P3E3W to take 30% off. There is tax but the shipping is free. Mine comes to $37.36.

Note: T9P3E3W is a 30% off coupon for one item thanks to Dsar2012's post. Coupon valid Online 11/21 - 11/25
Not so much for me:

"The coupon code you entered has already been redeemed. Please enter another coupon code or select an alternate method of payment."

EDIT: Duh, I just remembered I already used it for Catan a couple days ago. Guess I'll create a new account for my wife.

yeah this is more of a set you put up for display but too bulky for casual reading.. i would prefer the paperback set as well.... this is more of a "hey look i like C&H enough to buy something like this" kind of set

The paperback collection is very tempting as I used to buy the paperback editions when I was much younger and it was my absolute favorite, but I just don't see myself reading it nowadays. Haven't thought about this comic strip in years. $38.33 for the paperback for me...my gut says to pass.

Awesome deal. Have been meaning to buy this for a year now but $100 was a bit too expensive ; even third party retailers on Amazon never brought it below $75. I would consider this to definitely be a collector's edition and for this reason I couldn't somehow bring myself to buy the paperback edition even though it retailed for around $60. In for one !

I have this set. Bought it at Costco 4 years ago or so. I absolutely love them. To me, there is no comparison between this and paperbacks. Its just a beautiful set.

Just a note about the paperback version - There have been several complaints about the ink bleeding due to the poorer paper quality.

Wow, I forgot how funny this cartoon strip was. Pulled up some of the snowmen cartoons and it had my wife and I in tears. Bill Watterson was a genius when he wrote this strip, and he's still only 54 years old. He looks just like Calvin's dad. My boys are under 10, and we'll get our money x10 out of this set. Thanks OP.

Thank you so much OP.

My father is a huge fan of Calvin and Hobbes, but just like a previous poster he lost all of his books in a move. I was ready to pull the trigger on a $45 paperback set, but the hardcover will hopefully make this gift much more special.

So it's a pick your poison huh? Bad binding on the hardcover or bad ink on the paperback. I checked out some of the e-bay auctions, and I'm not dealing with the binding issues some of those pics had. Paperback for me and I hope the ink is ok.

Is this why Amazon stopped selling it temporarily? They say...

"Item Under Review

While this item is available from other marketplace sellers on this page, it is not currently offered by Amazon.com because customers have told us there may be something wrong with our inventory of the item, the way we are shipping it, or the way it's described here. (Thanks for the tip!)

We're working to fix the problem as quickly as possible."

But I just ordered the paperback from B&N... Should I cancel?
