Update on Amazon... when I placed order on Monday it said backordered on 1-9-13... well got an email that it shipped today and will be here Tuesday. Not much of a backorder at all in the end. This was the $79 Verizon upgrade 16GB S3.

Awesome, congrats. That would have been ideal timing for me (I'm trying to wrap up the semester, so this would have come right at the end and not distracted me earlier
![]() Good for you. Just curious, what color did you order? They were giving different delays for different colors. I'm set on black (though I'd go with pebble blue in a pinch i.e., cheap

You can still get the phone for $99 (upgrade w/ 2 year plan) after a $50 gift card from target (http://www.targetmobilestore.com) .. very tempted to go for it.

It is the blue being shipped to me. Kinda wanted the 32GB but for the extra $95 just couldn't justify it. Now I see there is a free unlock code... any advantage to doing this if I plan on sticking with Verizon?

I think 16 GB is just fine, you can always expand memory with an microSD card (which is why I also will be getting a 16GB version). I don't see how the unlock code would be helpful. My understanding is that if you are in good standing with Verizon, they will give you the unlock code on request.
What I am looking for is the update (which was promised to be delivered before the end of summer!) to enable me to use a local SIM card in Germany - they need to update the phone in order to enable Verizon customers to use the phone as a World phone. This already works on all of the major carriers in the US, and in the international version. Leave it to Verizon to drag its feet :-( |

I am now eligible for an upgrade. I have an iPhone 4 and want to get the Galaxy S3. I could have sworn that I saw Best Buy advertise a $100 gift card with the purchase of a Galaxy S3 – Verizon included. I saw this Saturday morning on their website. I went to Best Buy Saturday and the girl working said she thought it was only for Friday. I told her to check and she was doing it. Then her coworker said that to come back the next day (Sunday) because it was going to be $100 – no gift card. This was better for me because I really have no need for a $100 Best Buy gift card. I came back the next day and there was a different person. I said I wanted the Galaxy S3 Verizon for $100 and he said the $100 price was only for Sprint and AT&T. I was pretty upset and told him that I could have gotten the gift card yesterday had I known this. He said the $100 gift was also only for Sprint and AT&T. I think he was lying to me. Well Best Buy now has it for $149.99 but I don’t know if I should buy it or wait? Do you think more deals will come out?

i got lucky. i couldnt get through when it was black friday. and someone was supposed to push my upgrade through... no one didnt i wrote a letter telling them my situation and how disappointed i was and that others were offer for 99 cents and i could have made a more informed business decision if they were to say no they couldnt. i got a call today saying the upgrade was pushed through and they discounted the two S3 phones white and i will be getting them next day. I wasnt complaining just wanted to point out how disappointed i was because this happened twice with this sprint company. I kinda felt like they didnt want to extend my contract and keep me another two years. So I concluded the letter, by the time you read this i will most likely be with att or verizon wireless. Cheers. I was appalled with the service they provided. in the end i still got the S3 white for 99 cents with no activation waived early upgrade and next day aired. worth the wait, for a simple professionally stated courtesy letter sent to corporate.
