Warning for this product:
The sensor they use in the G500, G700 and G900 has hardware mouse acceleration built in. It's minor, but a lot of people notice that their mouse movements aren't accurate because of this, i was one of the people who noticed this.

It can't be removed through software. Just a heads up!

I have this mouse and the G700, and both of them are equally as good.

Neither. It came out around the same time as the mx518, but is the "laser" alternative.

I love this mouse for my work, we cannot install "unapproved programs" so i can set all the button presets at home, save them to the mouse and plug them in at work and they all work.

The ability to set the scroll wheel for clicks or free spinning is great

If you had to buy this at $35 versus the G700 at $50, which would you choose? I'm having that conundrum right now....

I like that the G700 is wireless and features additional programmable buttons but dislike that it takes two USB ports when charging and has comparatively (to other wireless mice) short battery life.

I had the 510 and replaced it with the G5 a few years ago. My G5 recently started acting up so I purchased the 510 replacement (G400) because it was $15 cheaper than the G500 - and I don't really like it.

First, it's way too light after using the G5 for years. Second, there is no indication of the DPI setting like the G5 has. Third, it's smooth and feels "slippery" whereas the G5 was textured. I think its more of a case of being used to the G5, but I find all three issues annoying and decided to get this G500 and will be returning the G400.

YES. I was waiting for a deal on this baby.
