Out of the major channels 2 seems to be the hardest to keep a signal while 11 is usually the strongest since it is coming out of San Bruno Mountains to the SE from where I live.

In your situation 11 could be the hardest depending where you live downtown, but it could be okay as long as you aren't surrounded by buildings higher than your apartment.

I'm on the 5th floor by a window and the roof of the next buildind is two floors below me so i have a big empty space until the next building. But apart from that I'm pretty much boxed in.

You might be able to get those channels over the air but it would not be from Comcast. What you are watching right now is provided from the cable company. The box they are talking about is pretty small and at least here in Florida you get like your first 3 for free. If I were you I would call comcast because the box will be a better bet for you

That should be okay. The house behind me is probably no more than 20ft from where I am sitting.

I did actually call Comcast at one point, and I believe they do not give out a box without at least a basic subscription

Yeah I might just try one of these if Comcast really cuts me off completely. One of these + a Roku and I'll be all set!

should i td with the youtube coathanger antennae again?

i ordered this last year and have tried anything and everything to make it work as advertised. This did not work for me and is not worth even $1.

got one from previous deal, its well worth the money. Better reception than a powered antennae. Also picked up a few more channels.

I have bought one 3 months back for 25$ but never used...if anybody need i can give for 12-15$.

Do I need one of these to watch the local channels like fox, 11, NBC?

I cut the cord on Cable about 6 months ago. There hasn't been a single day or instance where I said "Damn, wish I had cable".

Same happened here in Colorado. I thought I was in the clear, but eventually the channels starting going out one by one. Eventually had to get free digital converters from them to get basic cable channels.

I had one of thee and I only picked up like 5 channels. The trick is to run a cable line from your TV to your attic (if you have one) and mount it up there. Now I get like 30 HD/digital channels.
