Don't think this is a good deal because of PSU of 200W and max memory of 8GB.
This isn't for building a high end gaming rig, and it only supports a 65W processor, so 200W is plenty. For most people, 200W P/S and 8GB ram is way more than enough. I wouldn't expect the world for $60, but you get a mobo/case and power supply, which seems pretty cheap to me. I've looked around and I don't see anything close to this kind of value. Throw in the Celeron that I linked above and this is the perfect HTPC that can stream anything, including blu-ray iso, and will crush at web surfing. :-)
The problem with these Foxconn units are the loud Power Supply Fan. I initially bought the E350 but the fan was so irritating I gave it to my mom.
I also picked up one of those E350s. There are two fans, a case fan and a PSU fan.I didn't find either of them particularly noisy on my unit, but everything runs cool enough that you could always swap in a 'brick-style' PSU and have a totally silent box if that's what you really want.
I'll pair them up with some ram and a HD (or flash card) I have lying around and do a XBMC setup for a spare tv in the office. Great rig that should play anything for $120 and spare parts.
For those that picked up the system (I picked up two), while researching where to the cheapest CPU, after going over the usual suspects (NE, Frys, TigerDirect, etc), I thought about the Amex promotion today that gives you $25 off $25 (statement credit) for purchases from a small business. So those small mom and pop shops around town that don't normally have the best deal ended up being the best deal. For me (suburbs of Portland), I picked up the G540 for $23.50 after the statement credit. http://www.iguanamicro.com/inceg52ducoc.html
Anyone have any idea how you perform the bios swap? I looked up other foxconn bios chips and it looks like a solder job. If thats the case, ill just go with a G530. But if its already ivy ready or the bios swap is a simple socket switch, then ill go for an i3.
