I used this in November for an iPhone 5 that was dropped a week after purchase and busted the screen. The purchase protection paid for the repair up to the cost of the phone. Took about a month and several phone calls to get all the paperwork in order but I did end up getting the money!

And they will send you a new replacement card that only has the word Discover and a logo on the front with all the information on the back. Then your wife will pick it up and throw it away because she thinks it is a credit card offer promo,,,, grrrrrrrr

Correct. That is "Purchase Protection"

I was referring to "Price protection"

eg:- I buy Garmin GPS from Amazon for $100. now after a month, I see same GPS at TigerDirect for $50. So I ask Discover to match the lower price and they credit me the difference. That is Price protection. This alone makes Discover card worth it to sue for many purchases (especially electronics). Just keep a tab on their terms and conditions though. Many exclusions will be there...

I agree -- it was kind of a pain in the butt when I did it for a $13 price adjustment on some speakers I bought from Amazon. They dropped in price less than a week after I purchased them and Amazon wouldn't help out. Had to send in some paperwork, etc. to Discover, but I got the check less than a month later.

Last year was 500 cash back plus these new benefits and I don't carry a balance so its like getting something back for nothing.

I didn't know about these benefits. How long has this been going on?

Just spoke to a Discover rep who said this includes online purchases and has a limit of $2,500 per year per card.

Amex has the same thing. Not sure how discover works but with amex i ship the unused item to Amex. I dont know where it goes after that.
