Not sure why this seems to be a popular deal, Frys had the better version of this TV on sale yesterday for $799 (WD-73642). I picked one up and I love it. Here is the post from yesterday and it didn't get as much liking:
Might I add that last year, this 73 was going for $699 at besybuy, just search the forums, so 849 definitely is too high to the base model especially when you have to pay tax on orders from Dell. Get it from www.paulstv.com and most likely you won't have to pay taxes.
This one has free shipping though. Even if I did pick it up at Fry's I have no way of getting it home lol.
The Fry's deal did have free shipping. free for the first 20 miles from the store, then additional cost per mile.
Standing in line for a Black Friday deal at Fry's was extremely unappetizing, and the difference simply was not that much compared to Paul's deal. So went with Paul's instead.
I didn't stand in line to get this, the Plano TX Frys store still had 14 left at noon which is when I went in and just picked up mine. I did have to remove the seats from my minivan and cut the TV out of the box but Frys employees helped with it and it wasn't much trouble.
I believe last year's $699 BB price was a price mistake and was only live for a couple of hours. $799 is a great price for this TV.
Thanks, that makes me feel a little better having paid $799 for it. I agree it is a great price. Everyone complains about DLP's but I love it. This is my second. My other Samsung 50" Plasma that I purchased at Frys two years back for $499 already has developed vertical red & blue lines across the screen. I see no reason not to go with DLPs especially when you are going to save so much compared to LEDs and get a much larger TV than what you can otherwise afford or rather be willing to pay for.
I have owned 3 3D DLP Mitsu's sets and I have always been happy with them and service. But to keep costs to an extreme low, for a note they have striped allot away from the C series over the last few years. From Inputs and Outputs, the remote (Use to be Universal), Menu options and other little things. (Use to be where the C was just a renamed middle version and what you expect from Mid/High set options)... The things they have taken from the C series, just about makes it to where you must have a better remote and an A/V receiver.
-But Still I will 100% purchases another set someday from Mitsu, just wont get a C model, (Had a C9 that came with allot of extras), My Current 65" is not C... Just waiting for a Cheaper LaserVue Set for my next...
-Hopefully someone at Mitsu will start moving more on the Lazervue Projection that has amazing potential. They are outstanding color spectrum and deepest blacks and the whites are spot on, also power consumption is like lower then 100watts, nothing I seen compares to it with a under 5k cost... They really could have (still can) gone far with them. Now with 4k rez, Lasers should be able to really shine as it should be no problem from them to achieve it at a low cost compared to Flat!!!
you got your moneys worth... and with a bulb replacement you can prob expect close to the same number of hours again... what did the bulb replacement cost and how hard is it to replace them?
Skip the massive waste of time ordering cheaper bulbs from Amazon is. I've tried twice.
Ultimately, they last a few months, then poof.
My advice is to spring the $99 for the mitsu manuf. replacement bulb and forget about the junk. It works better and brighter and lasts much longer. My current bulb is the manuf. bulb.
I kept pulling it to replace it with the newer Amazon retailer bulbs. Each time, the stupid
thing died and I re-installed the Mitsu bulb. Each time, it's continued to work just fine.
If you can't explain it simply, then you don't understand it well enough.. -A.E.
