Thanks for posting OP.. but you are seeing that hate because for most of the folks this experience would have been very different. OD manangers are generally pretty bad.. In NYC, they shit their pants even when you give them their own perfectly applicable coupons..
You are not talking about the one and only 42nd st one in NYC right.
is it really possible to take these PICTURES of the receipts and bring to to a store to ask them to price match? i would think they would laugh and reject you instantly???
Why not? I did! You have to use common sense when you do this, I didn't just go in there pulling the receipt right at first. I went in and asked for a manager saying I had a question about a purchase. I was very polite and asked her how she was holding up from black Friday and made some small talk. I then told her that I was having problems with my card, I told her that Discover was giving me a hard time with online purchases (see my post on Discover/walmart cancellation for example of what to say) and I was wanting to just come into the store and buy it in person. I said my friend from California got a Nexus tablet and I was hoping to do the same. I told her the tablet was 199.99 and I was hoping to use the 30.00 off coupon. I said my friend got the same deal, but for some reason They gave him the 45.00 off ( I went in there not expecting the 45 off but they gave it to me).I then showed her the coupon and the original posters receipt. The lady looked at it and looked at the OP's receipt and said sure, I can do that for you. My cousin has now gone to another store and gotten the same deal so it obviously works, you just got to do a little smooth talking.
A few tips:
Don't call the store and ask for the deal, if you are too lazy to drive down there then don't bother, they are going to say no.
Don't try to push it and get the 45.00 if you get it than great, but be willing to take just the 30. The lady that did mine just went off the original poster's receipt and gave me the 45
Do be very polite, try to make a connection with the manager. They've had a tough week and being rude will just get you shut down.
If you don't get the deal than just politely say thanks , leave, and go try another store.
* I almost didn't try this because of all the negative feedback, but then I saw a few posts and it seems the people who actually tried it succeeded so I gave it a shot, to my surprise it worked.
** Also should note that it is 229.00 in stores so there is no need to ask for a price match, the only thing is having them use the coupon which they did.

Wow, I was dreading looking at this thread again. I was on here looking for a good Dell deal and decided to look one last time and it is great to see some good news. I have always loved Slickdeals because it gives me a start to work with at a minimum. I take pride in being a slickdealer because I feel I do extra - like smooth talking managers, or driving to a store, etc. I don't expect someone to do it all. In fact, I got this deal because someone posted about OD and gave me a starting point.
Seeing the responses was awful and not one of them seemed to even try it. I am so glad that some of you have! I knew it was possible and even stated it was so smooth of a transaction that I thought it was repeatable. That proved to be the case and I am happy some other people got it as well.
And thanks to the original poster on the OD deal as I got a better unit for gifts instead of the Tab 2 because of you getting me started. Negative rep I guess comes with the territory for those not willing to even try.
Thanks again for posting, My deals went as smooth as yours sounded. I ended up with 2 (1 for my sister)and 5 of my friends got one. Never again will I listen to the negative people that didn't try. Thanks a lot, Very much appreciated!
