Costco just dropped the price of a Tag Heuer Formula 1 model WAH111C.BA0850 from $1,300 to $900 and I bought the last one. Could someone please compare/contrast that watch versus this Victorinox. Will rep for constructive feedback.

Return the Tag and buy this. Tag Heuers are great watches, but the one you bought is quartz. A Tag with the same mechanical movement as this Victorinox (Tag calls is "Calibre 16") costs over $2000.

The Tag is a quartz movement, this is a Valjuex Automatic. This is a better watch in my opinion. I have a Swiss Army FA/18 with the stainless band and the Valjuex 7750 automatic movement and it's accurate to within 3 seconds a day.

some observations:
TAG - pros: bracelet, water resist to 660 feet; cons: quartz movement,
Victorinox - pros: automatic ETA 7753 movement; cons: leather strap / not suitable for water activities

replace leather strap with anything you want for inside $30... I prefer nato strap for $10-15..


tag - replace movement? almost impossible

Wish this kind of sale came around in the summer. I'm busy buying everyone gifts, no money left for myself for these kind of luxuries.

Not to thread crapping but we are talking about $600 not $100. This is my take for your reference. I would buy it in a heart beat if these were Omega or Longines but I would think twice before I buy a $600 VICTORINOX SWISS ARMY even though it has a Valjuex Automatic. Do they really worth $2000? Would you be able to re-sell one for over $800? Values are relative.

The Swiss Army watch is extremely durable; made to last for years. The Valjoux is time-tested Rock-Of-Gibraltar reliable. But, leather band, 100m water resist, not COSC certified, made of SS. If it were titanium, with titanium bracelet, 300m, super lume, COSC cert, w/warranty, it would be some buy. Still comparatively speaking, for what's offered, it's better than ANYTHING in its class (Seiko, Citizen, Orient) out there.

But you have to fall in love with this watch to buy it, and there's too much lacking, so the $600 could go towards a dream timepiece (like a COSC Omega with the new Co-axial movement and 300m water-resist--assuming, of course that you like Omega).

I agree. At the end of the day this is still a Victorinox.
