Bought mine in '08 I think. I wear it every day, the leather band is still going strong. I am in the pool equipment industry and occasionally get this wet. The black dye does bleed when it gets wet. I like the push button release, makes putting it on and taking it off quick and easy.
Pics don't do it justice. It is a nice watch that I get complimented on often. Well worth the money imho. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8317/8...b273d3b408.jpg |

The movement is quite good and that pretty much defines the price of any watch outside of the <$250 range (which can vary based on crystal quality and such, as well).
Omega and Rolex will have nicer bands (which does make a big difference) and the cases will be nicer than a $1000 Victorinox. Not a huge difference, but it's the same in any hobby...great speakers aren't REALLY twice as good as well designed inexpensive ones, but noticeably better and worth it to those with the cash and interest. My favorite inexpensive watches are from Steinhart..with the current exchange rate, many can be had between $400-650...all have great bands, cases, crystals (double AR coated which makes a big difference). Victorinox is supposed to make a solid watch and offer a lot of value. They're not necessarily my style, but the specs and quality of parts are great for $600. A good Chrono movement in a watch will generally be close to $1,000 online...$800 is usually considered a very good price. You're getting a lot of watch for the money and if you keep it in good shape and decide it's not for you, you can probably get close to what you're spending here back on a watch forum. So there's not a LOT of risk, really. |

Servicing can be fairly expensive, you'll have to call around, and most people don't do it unless the watch is obviously expensive enough and in good enough condition to warrant it being done. |

I've only heard good things about Victorinox watches...not sure why some people think they are anything other then high quality. I also think they make some of the nicest looking watches out there. This ones style is "ok" imho but they make many gorgeous watches in my eyes. As someone else said with big name watches you are mostly paying for the name.

I got mine today. I'm no watch expert but this thing is nice, it's really heavy, has a metal clasp on the leather band which i think is kinda weird but maybe the norm. Problem is I think it's too big for me, it's very thick. May have to ebay it. Great deal nonethless

+1 for Steinhart. Love my Steinhart and I get more compliments on it than I do my Omega Seamaster 8500...could be because the Steinhart is my daily wear and I don't like to wear the Omega unless I'm carrying a gun.. |
