I'm still having issues even after I followed all the steps mentioned above. Looks like I may need a new wireless card.

Hi all, Happy New Year! I have to admit that I thought this laptop was a steal, especially for i5 for the price! I am extremely disappointed in it (I am bias to Windows 8, not a huge fan, but that is besides the point) I tried EVERYTHING to get the wifi to work and STOP dropping connection! It got to the point where I had to manually Disconnect and Reconnect every few seconds.. I have a dell that I bought in 08 and it works perfectly fine with WiFi.. my 2 phones are also connected to my wifi at home.. I even just recently changed providers from TWC to ATT with no luck on the new laptop... I brought it to geeksquad TWICE and still it didnt get fixed.. brought it to various places and it dropped connection at all locations as well! After a month's long battle with the laptop I waved my white flag and just returned it and got my $$$ back :*( Now I am back to my 2008 Dell laptop.. so sad this deal didnt work out for me...

What sort of things have you tried? Did you replace the card? It seems that most people were able to remedy the problem either by tweaking some router settings or by replacing the card. I am still in the tweaking process but even still, my connection only drops maybe once or twice every hour for about a minute at a time. Does it suck, yea, but can I live with it, yes.

Lol, well okay. Maybe I exaggerated a bit.. maybe not ALL haha.. I kept playing around with router settings and it still didn't fix it. What really bugged me was that it dropped in different locations with different providers too.. first I thought maybe I hit the max amount of allowable devices per router.. but that wasn't it.. even places like Starbucks! I did see in earlier posts about people replacing the wireless card but I didn't go that route because I feel that if I am buying a new laptop it should work our of the box, did not want to spend extra and replace a card.. (of course I do have my other Dell that works fine so that was a huge factor in my decision to return).. oh man, if it dropped only once an hour I would've kept it. Lol. The dropping every few seconds to a minute was not a lie or exaggeration :'( even at best buy they admitted to it dropping with their WiFi. Only other way I was able to get around it was to use an Ethernet cable.. but that defeats the purpose of it being a portable laptop.. would just get a desktop at that point! Lol Goodluck.
