If you polish/seal every 6 months or so, your headlights should stay nice looking until the pits and really deep scratches start to add up. Check out my Africa Mission Trip Blog [esgmissions.org]. July - Aug 2010.

Just a quick thumbs up for one of the few car products that actually works. I flipped a car after having some damage to the front repaired, including having one headlight replaced. The older light was pretty cloudy, and with the brand new one next to it, it looked just silly. I got this kit for 9 bucks at the auto store. Did a really fantastic job. I was previously going to use a polishing wheel drill bit and some brass cleaner to do it, but I had a guy drive from out of state so this was a quick solution, and it worked out pretty well. The polishing wheel will do a MUCH better job, of course, but this was really easy since you don't need anything but your hands to do it with.
EDIT: If you're a paraplegic, this product is probably not right for you. |

I recommend anyone who needs this try Meguiars plastic X. It can be bought in walmart or automotive stores and it works really well. All you need to apply is a few paper towels and it will not ruin your paint if it gets on it. The only down side is you need to reapply it every few months. But I doubt the 3M stuff is a forever fix.

These products are unnecessary. Use an old sock, dampen it with a little water and polish the headlight with toothpaste. I didn't believe it till I tried it but it works perfectly and has your headlights looking like new. There are some youtube videos available as evidence.

Yes, this is a permanent fix to remove oxidation, more abrasive than PlastX which contains "concealers" that will dissipate away. Use Plexus afterward to help prevent build-up. Also use Plexus on newer cars to prevent this type of problem in the first place. Also fixes skipping DVD's. |

If your lights are just cloudy with no bad pits or scratches the compound that comes with many kits is enough. No sanding or sealing required...
