Tried it. It doesn't work, plus it just adds more scratches to the plastic. The whole idea is smoothing out the micro chips while getting the debris out. You need a high speed polisher to do this. Your hand will never work on hard plastic. This isn't like waxing a car. And once you clean out the plastic micro chips, you've got a somewhat smoother surface that needs sealed. You can spray acrylic clear on your lenses which should extend the repeat process from 6 months to about 2 years. But even clear will pit over time, and that clear will be tougher to clean up. The best solution is to buy new headlights on ebay. Just be prepared to pay up to $100 for a pair of lenses. Our 2003 Honda Pilot replacement lenses are $96 on ebay, and I can tell you the amount of time you'll spend polishing 10 year old lenses almost isn't worth it compared to just replacing them. It's a lot of polishing, and in 6 months, you have to do it all over again. Just like anything, if you're willing to put the labor in, you can save the cash. But your time is money too.
