Seagate GoFlex Home 2TB NAS for $99.99

If you have an Apple computer with which you’ll use this NAS, don’t bother buying it. Time Machine, particularly, and this NAS are not compatible. In fact, in the year I’ve had this NAS, it has never worked for more than two days at a time. Truly a nasty product, good only if you like to reflash firmware, and restart, and fiddle and fuss. And it still won’t work. Nothing useful to say but, “Run away quickly from this deal.”

can you connect this directly to your computer like an external drive?

No, you cannot connect this directly. It requires an ethernet connection. You can connect it to you computer with ethernet, but still must access the drive through the network, not a direct link. You can buy a different base - USB 2, USB 3, Firewire 800/USB2, and maybe more - and use the drive again in the different base; however, the NAS formats the drive in a manner not always useful for a directly plugged in drive (hidden folders and such).

thanks I bought it thinking it can be an external storage now need to cancel.

your iDevice

I have been using this device for last 6 months now. It pretty awesome, I have installed transmission on it and it does a nice job of downloading torrents , lets me watch on my media players, tabs, phone. 0 issues.
