Agreed, it's worth the extra money for the Hero 2 for a variety of reasons. Better video in low-light, better video in bright conditions, more control in the menus, and menus that are actually useable. Definitely worth waiting for them to clear stock in the $150 range

Both have 1080, true, but the actual video quality is not the same. The 2 is definitely more versatile.

Try and find a GoPro 3 then... it has a flat lens for underwater filming. You can get the base model for $199 MSRP but of course you can find it for less. A flat lens will cost you >$20 by itself.

So in basic mode, it's primarily a ultrawide angle video camera with no review capability. Limited still capture capability since there's no viewfinder (without add-ons).

May not be what I need after all.
