Yeah, they do look cheap and generic but GoPro is probably the most popular brand for sport video cameras. They work good and I have heard that they have been used a lot in movie action shots because of their compact size. They also have a wide variety of mounts available.
Not a bad price, per se. But I bought the same model with all the mounts for the same price at this time last year - and that was before (or maybe shortly after) the release of the Hero 2. Now the Hero 3 is out - this camera should be a lot cheaper.
I've used both the first and second generation version of the Hero unit and I would recommend holding off on a Hero2 version. The low light and image quality improvements with the second generation device are well worth the extra money. If low light performance is important to you, wait for the Hero2 to drop in price again.
Just strapped my cousin's to my arm so we could record my pistol's laser sweeping walls through the wifi link - viewed on his iphone.
Only complaint was the few seconds of lag between capture/wifi/phone
