I would get a Pioneer VSX-1022-K 7.1 for $249 at newegg for budget. My brother has one thats been great, and plus you can add two tower speakers later if you want more mid out of you system. As far as the differance I cant say till I go listen to them tomorrow at BB.

I own the RM6750 set. I have them set up as the surround for the computer and a small home theater I have setup in my home office. The center and satellite speakers sound fantastic, however I cannot recommend the subwoofer. I sold the subwoofer from my set and replaced it with a higher end sub. If you don't mind replacing the subwoofer, I fully recommend the RM6750 set. The RM6750 center and satellites provide great sound quality for a reasonable price.

I don't have experience with the TL1900, but the subwoofer included looks similar to a PSW-10 which is a better subwoofer than the one included with the RM6750. I can't speak directly on the sound quality of the TL1900 center and satellites, but a few years ago I purchased a Polk Audio RM85 5.0 set to replace the RM6750 set. The center and rear satellites in the RM85 set appear to be similar to those in the TL1900 set. The RM85s were a higher more expensive set in Polk Audio's lineup, but they sounded very thin and harsh to me compared to the RM6750s. The RM85s were also lacking in mid-range bass. I returned the RM85 set and put the RM6750 set back in place. The receiver I was using at the time was a Denon AVR-989.

Looks like you can order these online again but they're backordered for 1-2weeks. ALL my local Best Buys show this is Unavailable so this is at least an option now. Thanks OP.

Thanks for the info, good_things. I just realized that I have a set of RM85s (mine didn't come with a subwoofer so I had to buy a separate one) and I've been happy with them. I suppose in a side by side I might notice the harshness you heard, but unless I bought the RM6750s and was willing to pay return shipping + restocking there's no way I could compare them.

What I ended up doing is placing an order for $160 at Newegg last night before the sale price expired. Then I saw that the new price was only $10 more, but it included their better return policy. Chat finally worked and I asked the rep if there was any way on earth they could hold the order up a day, and I was told not if my life depended on it (actually they didn't say that, but that's their attitude... I was first told yes and then no). I then asked about the better return policy, and I was told pre-midnight orders would have the standard return policy. In other words, Newegg won't budge an inch for anything, and that turned me off ordering from them. So I canceled the order since it's only $10 more to reorder now (nobody knows for how long). I'll try to call Polk Audio today to see if anyone there knows anything or is reachable. I'll try the TL1900s first at Best Buy. If they are like the RM85s then I'll probably be happy. If not, then I'll pay $10 more to order from Newegg where in effect all all sales are final unless you don't mind restocking fees and paying expensive return shipping.

BTW, somebody started a new thread for the $10 more expensive RM6750 speakers.

The sub appears to be the PSW10 or worse. The Energy Take 5 package and a real sub is worth the extra $$$.Good for a small room but not more.

What's the real difference between TL 1600 and TL 1900 ? spec-wise?

I work at Best Buy and just to let you know if your store is OOS good chance they can order it for you using their OMS program ,when i check our main warehouse they had 50 in stock , and i was able to order 1 and get it shipped to the store ,if anything you can call and ask if they are able to order it using OMS

I bought one for pick-up from a BB 100 miles away.
Will wait for the reviews on SD and other sites and will decide to drive over that far or not.

Hi, the difference between the TL1600 and TL1900 is the subwoofer. According to Polk, the TL1900 includes the PSW108, which Polk says is very similar to the PSW10. I didn't ask what the TL1600 comes with (specs on Polk's site say it is 8" down-firing).

I just listened to these. Then clled my brother to ask what his were. He has the same ones on newegg. In my opnion they didnt sound as high puitched. These would be great for an apartment or small bedrrom/ cave because they shouldnt carry as fa through the house or apartment walls. I liked his speakers better.because they just seemed to be a fuller sound. So if your in an apartment or looking for a filler system this is the way to go. If you are looking for a full fledge home audio system then I think most would be happier with the rms from new egg. I think either purchase is a good buy for the product. Just my two cents....

This looks like a great deal , I do not know why it didn't reach the FP.
