No reviews anywhere, I listened to them in the store, they sound like speakers. I am no audiophile, so don't buy these on my recommendation. I hope some of you slick-audiophiles will listen and say 'This is great!'

It was available in store, and looks like its available online too.

The package is pretty impressive though, 5 polk speakers, and 1 huge ass powered sub-woofer.

TL1900
Whether you’re looking for your first home theater sub/sat system or want to upgrade to more performance, you’re in for a big surprise in a small, compact package from Polk®. The TL1900 is an amazingly affordable, professional quality compact home theater system.

Big Speaker Sound Without The Big Speaker
The TL1900 is comprised of comes four high performance TL1900 satellite speakers, a TL1900 center channel speaker and our own specially engineered, compact 50 Watt powered subwoofer, all packaged together. Easy to set up, easy to connect, the TL1900 delivers the excitement of dynamic, thrilling surround sound with deep bass for your movies, games and TV like you’ve never heard them before.

Satellite and Center Channel Features
Time Lens Technology—The acoustic centers of the tweeter and mid-bass driver are located in the same plane for superior imaging, while the acoustic lens incorporated in the grille smoothes the tweeter’s frequency response. The TL Series creates imaging and frequency balance previously impossible in small, high performance satellite speakers.

Satellite Aperiodic-Tuned rear port enables better blending with a subwoofer. This design combines the bass extension of an acoustic suspension enclosure with the mid-bass boost of a ported enclosure by controlling air flow through the port for better extension without distortion.

Center channel tuned rear port maximizes the low end response of the dual driver design for superior blending with the satellites and the subwoofer.

Curved Enclosure Design employs non-parallel surfaces that not only lead to a stronger, more rigid and acoustically inert enclosure, but they also result in less audible coloration from internal surface resonances.

1/2-inch silk dome tweeters for crisp, clear imaging and smooth response that’s never tiring.

2 1/2-inch Dynamic Balance® long-throw drivers. Polk’s patented transducer design process scientifically tunes materials to produce a flat frequency response, with sharp detail, transparency and the ability to play loud without strain.

5-way binding posts offer hookup versatility and secure connections.

Combination keyhole slot & 1/4-inch x 20 threaded Insert fits all aftermarket ceiling and wall brackets for ultimate flexibility. Or simply hang the speaker securely on a nail or screw using the keyhole slot.

Hi-gloss finish matches today’s most stylish flat panel TV’s.

Powered Subwoofer Features
Heavy-duty, non-resonant MDF enclosures feature an elegant satin black finish that creates the ideal décor accent.

Front firing powered subwoofer. A vented enclosure with an 10-inch long-throw Dynamic Balance poly composite driver. The long driver excursion and excellent linearity produce big, musical bass.

Built-in 50 Watt continuous/100 Watt peak amp with active crossover offers the control you need for real home theater thrills and big, musical, accurate bass.

Too bad, I was going to get them but the closest store in stock is 2 hours away. I guess BB will continue to never get money from me since they never want to change their business model.

What about the other 2 speaker systems I posted links to above? For all I can tell, the RM6750 system is better and cheaper than the TL1900, and that is still available at Newegg. Unfortunately there seems to be a serious lack of interest in this deal, and I don't know enough from comparing the specs to make any useful conclusion. So given that I don't know any better, I'm going to stick with the TL1900 even though it's a little more than the RM6750 unless someone says why I shouldn't (and hopefully before the Newegg price expires tonight).

You have to be an expert in this field or be able to listen to the speakers before buying them (which is impossible these days in the land of low inventory B&Ms) neither of which I can do, so I pass on most deals due to ignorance and lack of help on SD.

Nice, thanks man. At this price point from reputable manufacturers, I'm pretty sure all of them will sound about the same to a non-audio guy like me. Newegg gets my money for those RM6750s.

No problem. I just wish I knew if I should pick up my TL1900 order at Best Buy or order the RM6750 from Newegg and not pick up the TL1900 instead. That's what's killing me. I don't know which speaker system is better. If they all will sound the same, then I should go with the RM6750 because it'll save me about $17, but the RM6750 set is older and the sub in the TL1900 is bigger while the RM6750 has bigger speaker drivers, so I'm not sure which is really better. Is a bigger driver better or a newer model better? It's a total stab in the dark for me. Once I order from Newegg, that sale is final. With Best Buy I can always change my mind.

Where o where is an audiophile expert when I need one? I wish I knew someone to call before the RM6750 deal expires. Or I wish there were a way to order something from Newegg but hold it for a few days before shipping so I can talk to people.

the fact that TL1900 has already been back ordered, while RM6750 is available, does it imply anything about the values..?

I don't know. It might mean that Best Buy simply had a small quantity of TL1900s available whereas Newegg had more of the RM6750s. I'm still agonizing over this decision. I wish one person in the know could tell me why the TL1900 is worth $17 more than the RM6750.

I can't even find the speaker sensitivity or efficiency (I don't know what those mean exactly) to compare. All I see is the RM6750 has 3.25" midrange drivers vs. 2.5" in the TL1900, but the TL1900 has a 10" sub vs. a 8" sub in the RM6750. The RM6750 is a few years old, and there is no date anywhere on the TL1900 so I assume it's a recent model. So I'm still clueless which is better. If they are totally equal models, then I should cancel my TL1900 order and get the RM6750. Why pay $17 more for non-existent benefits?

what would be a good receiver for this either TL1900 or RM6750?

also, how does this speaker + a suitable receiver compares to other HITB sets such as :
http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-HT-S8...onkyo+8409

or

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...PDKIKX0DER

is 7.1 better than 5.1?

It's funny how people want advice on a receiver, whereas I want advice on which speaker system to get (TL1900 or RM6750). I've done an hour of attempted research and still can't come away with which speaker system is better. People claim that a 3.5" midrange driver is better than a 2.5" for the center, but Polk claims their "TL" line produces better overall sound. Who knows. It's strange how I can hear the differences between speakers, but not receivers unless their low end trash. I've been completely happy with under $200 Pioneer and Sony receivers. I've listened to various Onkyo and Denon receivers, including $1000 models, and every time I find it's the speakers that make the biggest difference to the sound quality.

It's pretty clear nobody is going to help me on my speaker decision. Newegg 24/7 chat is conveniently unavailable. Polk Audio is of course closed and won't open until after the sale expires. If I order the RM6750 from Newegg they will put it in the shipping process before I can get anyone on the phone at Polk and then I'm stuck with the RM6750. Slickdeals is great for finding out about deals, but for obtaining useful advice on which speaker system to get it's often an epic fail like this time.

I seriously can't figure out why absolutely nobody has the TL1900 speakers listed except Polk Audio and Best Buy. Newegg, Amazon, and Crutchfield have squat on the TL1900... just the TL1600.

mind giving some specific model number on the receivers? should I get one of those network enabled ones?

it is hard on the speakers, I am holding onto TL1900, just it sounds better to me

The TL1900 sound better to you meaning you've listened to those speakers before, or the descriptions you read make it sound better? From what I read the RM6750 should be better based on the 3.5" midrange driver and the better center channel range which should outweigh the better subwoofer, but that's from a non-audiophile. I'm still bummed that nobody can clearly say which of the 2 speaker systems is better. I'm going to call Polk Audio tomorrow since I'm on my own here.

What model numbers of under $200 receivers? The sony STR-DH520 was $170 and sounds OK to me. A Pioneer VSX-519 (or whatever the current model is) sounds OK to me and was under $200. To me the difference in those is the connections and features... not as fancy as more expensive ones. I seriously think you could pick any 5.1 channel receiver that supports DTS HD Master and DD+ by Pioneer, Sony, Denon, Onkyo, or Yamaha and be fine for sound quality unless you want massive house-shaking power. To me the model numbers don't matter... just look for cheap amplifiers that fit the bill in those brands.

Like I said, I can't hear the difference between receivers. I CAN hear the differences between speakers which is why the choice between the RM6750 and TL1900 is bothering me. But in this matter I am (to quote the reverend from Blazing Saddles): "Son, you're on your own".
