No reviews anywhere, I listened to them in the store, they sound like speakers. I am no audiophile, so don't buy these on my recommendation. I hope some of you slick-audiophiles will listen and say 'This is great!'

It was available in store, and looks like its available online too.

The package is pretty impressive though, 5 polk speakers, and 1 huge ass powered sub-woofer.

TL1900
Whether you’re looking for your first home theater sub/sat system or want to upgrade to more performance, you’re in for a big surprise in a small, compact package from Polk®. The TL1900 is an amazingly affordable, professional quality compact home theater system.

Big Speaker Sound Without The Big Speaker
The TL1900 is comprised of comes four high performance TL1900 satellite speakers, a TL1900 center channel speaker and our own specially engineered, compact 50 Watt powered subwoofer, all packaged together. Easy to set up, easy to connect, the TL1900 delivers the excitement of dynamic, thrilling surround sound with deep bass for your movies, games and TV like you’ve never heard them before.

Satellite and Center Channel Features
Time Lens Technology—The acoustic centers of the tweeter and mid-bass driver are located in the same plane for superior imaging, while the acoustic lens incorporated in the grille smoothes the tweeter’s frequency response. The TL Series creates imaging and frequency balance previously impossible in small, high performance satellite speakers.

Satellite Aperiodic-Tuned rear port enables better blending with a subwoofer. This design combines the bass extension of an acoustic suspension enclosure with the mid-bass boost of a ported enclosure by controlling air flow through the port for better extension without distortion.

Center channel tuned rear port maximizes the low end response of the dual driver design for superior blending with the satellites and the subwoofer.

Curved Enclosure Design employs non-parallel surfaces that not only lead to a stronger, more rigid and acoustically inert enclosure, but they also result in less audible coloration from internal surface resonances.

1/2-inch silk dome tweeters for crisp, clear imaging and smooth response that’s never tiring.

2 1/2-inch Dynamic Balance® long-throw drivers. Polk’s patented transducer design process scientifically tunes materials to produce a flat frequency response, with sharp detail, transparency and the ability to play loud without strain.

5-way binding posts offer hookup versatility and secure connections.

Combination keyhole slot & 1/4-inch x 20 threaded Insert fits all aftermarket ceiling and wall brackets for ultimate flexibility. Or simply hang the speaker securely on a nail or screw using the keyhole slot.

Hi-gloss finish matches today’s most stylish flat panel TV’s.

Powered Subwoofer Features
Heavy-duty, non-resonant MDF enclosures feature an elegant satin black finish that creates the ideal décor accent.

Front firing powered subwoofer. A vented enclosure with an 10-inch long-throw Dynamic Balance poly composite driver. The long driver excursion and excellent linearity produce big, musical bass.

Built-in 50 Watt continuous/100 Watt peak amp with active crossover offers the control you need for real home theater thrills and big, musical, accurate bass.

Heard them in BB today. They were setup with a Yamaha Rec. Not that impressive. Not sure if it was worth all they hype.

Thanks for the info, good_things. I just realized that I have a set of RM85s (mine didn't come with a subwoofer so I had to buy a separate one) and I've been happy with them. I suppose in a side by side I might notice the harshness you heard, but unless I bought the RM6750s and was willing to pay return shipping + restocking there's no way I could compare them.

What I ended up doing is placing an order for $160 at Newegg last night before the sale price expired. Then I saw that the new price was only $10 more, but it included their better return policy. Chat finally worked and I asked the rep if there was any way on earth they could hold the order up a day, and I was told not if my life depended on it (actually they didn't say that, but that's their attitude... I was first told yes and then no). I then asked about the better return policy, and I was told pre-midnight orders would have the standard return policy. In other words, Newegg won't budge an inch for anything, and that turned me off ordering from them. So I canceled the order since it's only $10 more to reorder now (nobody knows for how long). I'll try to call Polk Audio today to see if anyone there knows anything or is reachable. I'll try the TL1900s first at Best Buy. If they are like the RM85s then I'll probably be happy. If not, then I'll pay $10 more to order from Newegg where in effect all all sales are final unless you don't mind restocking fees and paying expensive return shipping.

BTW, somebody started a new thread for the $10 more expensive RM6750 speakers.

Have you had a chance to talk to Polk Audio or go to BB to see the set? have you reached a conclusion?

I tried to call Polk Audio a couple times today, but I was just on hold. Being at work I kept getting interrupted and couldn't spend too much time on the phone. According to a Polk sales guy (where I could get through) who didn't know any details about the speakers, apparently there are only 4 people in Polk's CS department and they are flooded during the holiday season with questions (of course the thought of hiring more workers during the holiday season probably never crossed Polk's mind). I'll try again tomorrow, but I don't hold out much hope.

I'll probably end up trying the TL1900s and if I don't like them I'll return them.

My 120 mile away BB store has sent me the pickup email.
Now I am wondering whether to drive all the way out there to pick-up only to return later, or wait for more SD'ers reviews to come in. Still have a week although driving over the weekend is more realistic.

How does everyone feel about the Denon AVR1613 for $269 driving these TL1900's?

Hi, the difference between the TL1600 and TL1900 is the subwoofer. According to Polk, the TL1900 includes the PSW108, which Polk says is very similar to the PSW10. I didn't ask what the TL1600 comes with (specs on Polk's site say it is 8" down-firing).
The opinion of the customer service rep at Polk was the following (from worst to best):
RM6750
RM85
TL1600
TL1900
TL350

She thought the new technology of the TL line made up for the smaller midrange drivers so it shouldn't sound any worse than the RM models above. She kept recommending the TL350s but there are no deals on those. All I know is the RM85s sound OK for me with the right sub, so the TL1900s should work too in spite of a wimpy sub. I don't blast my movies and this is for a bedroom that is close to 15' x 12' x 9'.

I hope someone can help me understand why it matters what amplifier is driving these tiny speakers. Unless it's a junk amplifier, which I doubt Denon makes, I'd think it would sound the same regardless if it's a Sony, Yamaha, Pioneer, Denon, or Onkyo. To me it would be like saying is gas from Arco going to make my car drive better than gas from Circle K. I don't think you can hear subtle amplifier differences on tiny speakers. If I'm wrong about this, someone please tell me. I'm not an audiophile, but the tiny bits of logic in my brain tell me the speakers are what's important.

Price raised to $499. Congrats to everyone who got in the deal - I think it's a good one. I wasn't able to snag a set.

The TL1900 seems to be broken down into the following

1x TL1 Center Speaker: [crutchfield.com] $75
4x TL1 Satelite Speakers: [crutchfield.com] 4x$60 = $240
1x PSW108 Subwoofer (As mentioned by stelkes9): [crutchfield.com] $180
$495 if bought separately. All components receiving favorable reviews.

So, congrats to those who got it for $162.

Thanks everyone for providing so much useful information. I am glad I held on TL1900 (almost canceled the order), BB was quick enough to ship it before I hit the cancel button. now this sounds like a good thing with all your positive input about the set. I am glad I did not cancel.

it is true one should get a 7.1 receiver to drive this set, which also leaves some room for adding more speakers later on?

Finally picked one yesterday, had placed 3 orders for the same product...2 were out of stock for store pick up, had to travel 50 miles but i guess it would be worth for money (170 inclusive all + 5% cash back). This should really work for me, as i am in apartment i dont need huge speakers..well ordering the accessories for monoprice now and should be set with the system by weekend....

Update:
Ohh yes, i had ordered Yamaha 671 (7.1) av receiver from amazon on BF....this rocks. i am not a big fan of apple so didn't care for airplay.. rest this is top most range

they had lighting deal today for $199 (RM 705)

not sure why people see TL 1900 as not good, it has somewhat same configuration and mechanics of Tl 1600 and also its much better than RM 705. Well finally all depends on your ears and room size....
