The settlement papers stated that CVS's obligation to give out the $2.00 coupons would end at the same time that their obligation to conduct periodic random audits ended. That date depended on the results of the prior audits and CVS sending a sworn statement to the Attorney General's office certifying audit results that met specified minimum criteria. I do not know whether CVS officials submitted that signed statement to the AG's office following acceptable audit results.

I would report the issue to your county's department of Weights and Measures and also file a complaint with the California Attorney General's Office to let them know there is still a problem.

I have heard all the excuses from CVS (in CA) for not honoring & giving the required $2 coupon for finding expired products, but none of them are true. They are STILL required to give you the $2 coupon for finding ANY expired products in ANY CVS in CA. (a few other states too) My favorite excuse is that our CVS has decided not to participate! If this happens, show them the printed Attorney General document above and have them read it. If you have a smartphone just google Ca. Attorney General versus CVS and it should come up, or you can print it out and carry it with you. If they still won't give you the coupon you might try reporting them to the # listed on the document.

You can tell them exactly how to give you the coupon. Tell them to go to the Misc screen and press the button that says "Dated Product". They will then need to scan a Mgr card or enter a Mgr. #. The register should automatically print out the $2 coupon after this. Some stores just can't figure it out and I tell them that I will take a $2 ECB instead. (These usually have a 2 week exp date, as opposed to the real dated product coupon that never expires.)

I tried this last week several times and it still works! If you find more than one expired item, have them use separate transactions to print a coupon for each expired item. Good luck and have a lovely night!

SDCA's post correctly stated that the $2 coupon is/was only for infant formula, baby food, dairy products, eggs, and certain OTC drugs, vitamins and supplements. I have attached a copy of the final judgment if you want to verify.

Also, the coupon limit is/was "one coupon per visit, regardless of the number of Expired Products found by the consumer in that visit." If they gave you more, they probably did not know the correct procedure but they weren't legally required to do that.

I say "is/was" because I don't know whether they are still obligated to give out the coupons. As previously posted, that depends on the results of their audits and whether CVS sent a sworn statement to the Attorney General's office regarding the audit results.

Hmmm. Thanks! I had not seen this version. I had been going on the version that HH posted and I read her posting as the $2 would be given on any expired item. I didn't see a limit on either version. The $2 off $5 Deli/Bakery coupon worked today when I bought surplus bakery items.
I was at the El Segundo Ralphs on Sepulveda Blvd. a hour or so ago. They have at least 50 pumpkin pies for .99 each and tons of other holiday items highly discounted (I was also at the Redondo Beach Ralphs near Total Wine and they have a ton of bread and buns items discounted...so much so they had 3 extra carts full). I was not expecting the ecoupon would work with items coded with their surplus bakery stick-on tags.

I would like to know that as well. The website looks like it's 10 cents but I've seen signs at a couple Shells for "Up to 20 cents".
