I did look up that video a bit earlier. I guess I never considered World of Warcraft to be much of a draw because of how old it is now.

I'm mostly hoping for something that will be a good upgrade to my MSI A6200, which had been a great computer for me, but now is showing its age and taking forever to boot up despite having performed factory resets.

The A6200 would play Dragon Age: Origins fairly decently, but was unable to play The Witcher.

upgraded HD to ssd, boot up is extremely fast. Formatted internal 24GB ssd, set it up as page file. Internet drops a few times, hopefully it's not something serious. Using Pokki as start menu, may switch back to Win8 startmenu instead, both seems good enough.

Download speed is slow compared to my T60, average less than 8mbps while the T60 average 18mbps.

Thanks for the good news. Do you know about how much an upgrade would cost from HD to ssd?

Is there anyway that we can fix the internet connection problem? thanks!

I am bummed about the bluetooth. website clearly says it has bluetooth.

after messing with this for several hours. I find that is a good machine and windows 8 is going to take some time to get use to. I am also not use to use microsoft products such as their maps and hotmail. /messenger - bing. Iam hoping to be able to delete these for to me as of now they are bloatware. I did not use a hotmail to set up computer . was that a mistake? did not have one and went with the roadunner email address.

I just received mine in the mail, I was under the impression that if I opened the box I could not return the product and I'm hesistant based off what I've read. Am I able to open up and look around or will I be screwing myself?
I haven't read through the rest of the thread to see if anyone answered yet, but MS Store's online policy makes it sound like if you open the box you can't return it.

I talked to a rep and she told me if you open the casing as in removing screws then you're, well, screwed. You can play around with it though to decide if its a keeper or not.

Sorry for the double post, but I am pretty sure you aren't going to be playing The Witcher on this.

meant to say Microsoft essentials and not defender.
Apparently, with Windows 8, Windows Defender is the Antivirus and AntiSpyware solution. I went out to download Security Essentials and that's what MS told me. Huh.

update the trackpad driver (it's under trackpad), also note I had to uninstall the existing driver first before I could install the new one. (Talk about ass backwards still in this day and age)

Also, the whole process of updating drivers drives me as being stuck in Windows 95 days. I have to go to a website, manually search for the right driver for my pc, download, manually uninstall the old driver, restart, install new driver, restart. REALLY? IS THIS THE BEST WINDOWS CAN MANAGE IN 2012?)

Anyway, after updating the driver, it seems much better, for now...
I did the same thing. I looked in the startup area of the Task Manager and both the 32bit and 64bit versions of the gesture software were starting. That looked suspicious, so I uninstalled and re-installed. Seems better. I have to push down harder on the trackpad for the gestures to work properly than I'm normally used to. Love the gestures.

I couldn't agree more. All software, driver, etc updates should be automatic. I think that software is still in its infancy-it's like we're still using 'Stone Knives and Bearskins' but the marketing people are telling us something different.

My internet is dropping constantly. We need to find a new driver. Mine is unusable as much as it's dropping. Working today, but will start search soon. I love this laptop otherwise. Can't say enough good about the touchscreen. If this laptop is not it for me, then another touchscreen will be it (but they're all super expensive!).

Also, what's up with the Bluetooth? Both MS and Asus websites say BT in the laptop. Sounds like it's part of the Qualcomm Atheros chip. Maybe the driver doesn't work yet. Will be testing that soon as well.

I'm coming from a Dell D810 tank to this This is soooooo nice!

my wireless is working fine i guess, i got 19mb/s(router is 1-2 walls away

I went to get the Microsoft website and "You can't use Microsoft Security Essentials with Windows 8, but you don't need to — Windows Defender is already included and ready to go".
So does it mean Windows Defender is the same as the MS Essentials?

I am still debating whether or not to get the anti virus software such as mcafee or kaspersky...

The wifi chip is Qualcom Atheros AR9485WB-EG. I think this is the wide band 5 GHz chip that handle up to 300mbps if you get the 5Ghz router too. I could not find the spec for it so I am not sure it has Bluetooth or not. Yesterday, I found a general description about it on some website and no Bluetooth mention it.
