I was able to place an order for the 120Gb model about 30 minutes ago. Shortly after that I got the "your order has been received and is being processed" email. The site is still listing it as being in stock.
Staples has Kingston SH103S3/120G HyperX 3K 120GB 2.5" SATA III (6 Gb/s) MLC Internal SSD for $70. Regular price is 209.00 so it's a savings of $140, no rebate or coupon required. Did a quick search to check if this was a repost but didn't find a match. Sales ends 11/26.
I bought 120Gb this morning and according to Newegg and Amazon reviews this should be pretty good drive. Can anyone comment on how good this drive is?
I put Windows 7 and all my other programs on this SSD. Now it boots in under 10 seconds and other programs seem 2x to 3x faster. Reminded me of the old DOS days when you run programs off RAM disk. I've move all my data, pictures, movies, music, downloads and etc to an external USB 3 disk and operate from one or two SSD. This is the most effective and inexpensive investment to boost processing speed I can remember.
You need to set your BIOS to SATA ACHI mode for best performance. Be sure to convert your old hard disk from SATA IDE to ACHI mode first or else it would not boot after you set the BIOS.
