what does IPS stand for?
I won't be snarky and tell you to google it, which is about the most common reply in these forums.

IPS stands for In Plane Switching. Basically it give you much better viewing angle. With many other screens, the colors wash out and basically look crappy if you aren't holding the tablet right in front of your face.

I've never owned a tablet that wasn't IPS, so I don't know how big of a deal it is.

Still looking for a tablet. So confused as to which one is the best value and price. This one is in the right price range. I wish I had gotten a Nabi for $49.
That was probably the Nabi 1 for that price, and certainly don't want that one. The Nabi 2 though is an amazingly solid machine which Im watching out for myself. Only downside is the resolution is abit lower then the top end ones. But it certainly stomps out alot of tablets.

If that Nabi was from that Woot deal recently, then it was advertised as a Nabi 2, but it most certainly a Nabi 1. They had a huge forum post saying Opps, and sorry basically for the mess up.

Thanks, glad I missed it then. Still need a decent Tablet for Christmas. Keeping fingers crossed I find a good one, in stock, $200 or less preferably.

So far some solid lower-end tablets look to be:
Visual Land
Zeki
Trio Stealth 9.7"
Linsay

All have hdmi and SD card and front camera. (and more stuff, of course.)
Note: the Visual Land 7L is the slower, no-hdmi version of the 7.
The first three look to have a decent to good internet following for hacks and unofficial support.
The 7" Visual Land was on sale last week for $70.
Zeki 7" was $70, 10" was $120.
Trio Stealth 9.7" was $107.
Linsay 10" was $125 at Sears the other day.

My Zeki and Trio Stealth should both be arriving today.

says 1080p when it doesn't have that resolution.. nice marketing

Not only that but If you go to DoublePowers website and search for this model you'll see two conflicting information about its specification. On Overview tab it says the tablet has 512 MB of system memory and 4 GB of internal storage but if you click on the Specifications tab right next to Overview it says 1 GB and 8 GB. Huh? Which one is true (I think I know which one..especially after reading couple of Walmart reviews). Some shady business going on there. I'd be cautious with this one.

If you can swing $149, get an 8GB Nexus 7 for crying out loud. This resolution is equivalent to Atari 2600 on a 25" CRT.

$79 for a chinapad is the max you should spend on something that has zero support. This works as good as any tablets and can be returned easily.

Where do you see 8GB Nexus 7s going for $149?

There have been plenty of rumors about a $99 nexus 7, probably with 8GB and something slower than the tegra 3 for a cpu. Debuting sometime this month or early next month.
