Thread Details

I'm not really sure where to post this, but it WAS a Black Friday deal, so I figured I'd post here.

My boyfriend purchased the KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer for me during Kohl's Black Friday online sale (I believe it was actually on Wednesday or Thursday, but still - same deal). He had $285 deducted from his account and received the confirmation email.

It arrived at our apartment on Saturday. The packing slip listed the 5qt Artisan Mixer that he had purchased, but the mixer in the box (and all paperwork) was actually the Professional 600! They got the color right, but definitely a better mixer.

Clearly, we can't send the rebate in as the packing slip will not match the UPC. It works out as a better deal and I know Kohl's has a reputation of sending the wrong item and then making you deal with the shipping to send it back. Against my conscience, we decided to keep it. The deal for the 600 works out to be fairly close to the 5qt Artisan.

Did we make the right choice? Have any of you dealt with this?

*Please feel free to move this thread somewhere else if it fits better. Sorry for posting in the "deals".

For the sake of your conscience and doing what is right, I think you should call and report it. I can't see them giving you a hassle about it since it was their fault; but at least you would have a clear conscience.

I had the same issue ,,, I just received my mixer today and it's the 600 Pro, not the Artisan. I'm wondering if the issue is the color - I ordered Liquid Graphite, and noticed at the time that no other retailer offered the Artisan in that color. Now, if you go to Kohls.com, Liquid Graphite is not offered as an Artisan, as if they realized their mistake. My concern in keeping the 600 Pro that KitchenAid will not accept the rebate, since the the UPC code is for a 600 Pro, but the packing slip/receipt shows a Artisan UPC. Also, I'm concerned the 600 won't fit under my cabinets (and I can't check because the kitchen is torn up, cabinets coming in a few weeks). What to do, what to do....

Same color for me! That MUST be the issue.

Honestly, the Pro 600 is worth it to keep. Even without the rebate, it's almost as good of a deal. Only you know what's right for you, but keeping it is the way to go for me!
I actually ordered this color too for the Artisan on Thanksgiving day...I have yet to receive mine yet, my order status page says "In Fulfillment". I don't know what that means since it is my first time ordering off their website. But I'll report back when I receive it. What is weird is that color isn't listed on the 600 Pro page at all Confused

EDIT: Noticed they removed that color from the Artisan page as well.

Do what you wish but I would give Kohl's a call and let them know. I have dealt with my share of Kohl's mistakes such as sending wrong tracking numbers and not being able to give me the correct one which I obtained on my own by calling UPS, canceling an order for an iron which I had already received, not sending items and billing me for them, putting K-cups in a padded envelope only to have them arrive smashed (did they run out of boxes?), sending the wrong product, listing order as "processing" for a week and then notifying me that items were out of stock, etc. etc. Had to call them multiple times with each mistake to have them correct their errors. Even though I would prefer not to deal with their customer "service" again, I would still contact them if they had sent me the wrong mixer. It's very possible that they will just tell you to keep it. Sometimes it's not worth the company's time or money to have a product shipped back to them. Then again it might not be worth your time to deal with their customer "service". EEK! Good luck.

Hey folks, I bought a pro series a couple of years back and you did very well getting one, even if by accident. The artisan series and all of the mixers below the pro series are filled with plastic gears which in time will break on you. The motor is also more powerful. But for most people the real issue will be the gears, which are metal in the pro mixers.

You should still be able to submit your rebate.

Also, you should call kitchen aid and check if they're still offering a 10 year warranty for the price of a 2 year. If you ask they might give it to you. For me, I got documentation of a 5 year in the mail, called them back and was told I'm in the system with a 10 year. Now I'm just waiting for the pasta attachment which I've been wanting for 2 Christmasses now.

If you were given incorrect change at a local supermarket (in your favor) by a cashier, what would you do?

Does that answer your question? For me it's very SIMPLE. You go to church don't you? Do what's right so at least you can look at your church's leader in the eyes without shame.

Now go do the right thing!

I did call Customer Service last night and they did say that if I want to keep it, go ahead, but probably the rebate won't work. Now if I could just know if it would fit in my kitchen! Smilie

I have had several wrong orders from Kohls and they have always said to just keep the item or donate it... This year I found a stuffed animal in my box that I didn't order. I guess I'll be calling again.

I DID call and they are aware that it was an issue that Kohl's had with listing a color that wasn't offered for the Artisan. She thanked me for calling but said to not even worry about it.

For those of you putting the fear of God in me, appreciated and all, but it's not THAT big of a deal. This happens a lot in retail, especially with Kohl's, and it's something that retailers are always trying to fix. Quality control is a HUGE part of profitability and they need to be more careful.

I'm thankful this worked out in my favor and congrats to all of you that also had the same "issue"! Cookies galore this holiday season, that's for sure! Smilie

Go to Kohls and cut out the UPC on the Artisan and claim your rebate, that will show them for sending out the wrong item, those bastards. If it ask for a copy of the UPC, then buy one, copy the UPC with a scanner, and return the item back. Smilie

Personally, I'm not worried about the rebate. I'm counting my blessings that I already kinda made out like a bandit on this deal!

Unlike OPs situation, Kohls sent me the right item : Tfal inspirations cook ware set, only problem is they sent in without the original box, so no UPC. Guess they screwed me on any chance at the $30 rebate.

The price difference between those items is allowable for Kohls no questions asked percentage difference and with them correcting it online they are fully aware. They have a high turnaround of employees which can lead to errors and also have a certain percentage policy given to all cashiers/employees. Bottom line they will not demand it back and only hope you are satisfied.

It is pretty obvious they did it on purpose rather than being a mistake....they saw they were out of or didn't carry that specific color anymore and decided to substitute the next higher priced item up.

What would have been better is if they tried to communicate with the buyer to ask them if that was alright ahead of time. Or given the buyer a choice whether to take the higher priced item or select a different color of the exact same item ordered.

I don't understand. U sound as if: you have never had to deal with a customer service issue dealing with a retail store? Especially, a store that can be walked into and directly address a manager to fix or call for them to resend it.

Go to the store. See if it can be purchased or have them order one/exchange/whatever. Express the importance of the rebate/date of purchase staying the same and be ready to elevate the problem. Kohl's is pretty good with helping its customers. The only issue is: if every set comes without a box and, if so, why? I'll be worried about that because it could be a returned item or? ???
