Picked this up. 5% towards kids college with Upromise. 5% cashback using Upromise credit card. Working on B & N $30 discount(called, had to email ybr@lenovo.com and am waiting for a reply). Added 3yr in home, next day accidental care service for 153.29 because parts, labor, no questions asked and fixed the next day for just over $51 a year is a no brainer. Thanks for sharing this deal!

There's a y500 model for a little more with Sli graphics (instead of disc drive) I was wondering if anybody bought one of knows about it, is it worth it?

Probably not. Look up overclocking the GT650, it can be pushed to to be as fast as an overclocked GTX660 in many cases, so it is a potentially very powerful card as it is. SLI also suffers from micro-stuttering, and honestly I'll always take a single card over dual graphics any day. Also laptops with graphics that are similarly powerful as compared to SLI GT650's can be had for the same price range as the dual-gpu version of this laptop.

Just to clarify... it's not a 10% "discount", it's cash-back on your statement. You HAVE to go thru their portal on discovercard.com or shopdiscover, or whichever it was, and seems to take 1-2 billing cycles to show up.

But now it comes with a blu-ray and an 16GB SSD as cache. I was told by their rep that you can't exchange the SSD for a larger SSD to install windows on it.

The funny thing is that they would build your machine after you place an order; that's why the date for shipping keeps pushing back. It's not like they've built a bunch of them and start shipping it out as soon as you place an order from their website. So you think they would at least let you make some minor modifications.

In china, you can get 2056TB ssd drives, and led color changing/cycling keyboards, as well as proximity sensor for privacy support applications, Build in windows 8 app for pronhub. I guess the US is a different market for Lenovo

I think that this deal was hot, and now it's probably warm considering it's $100 more but you do get a blu-ray drive and SSD.
