This tablet, according to the specs of AllWinner A10 CPU and Mali dual-core graphics (same as on Samsung Galaxy S2), is capable of playing 1080P and 2160P. On 768-line built-in screen it will be downscaled to 720P, of course. However, using HDMI-out, these high resolutions can be output natively onto a large screen TV. The tablet can also reproduce MKV videos, which some modern CPUs cannot - just put into the search some other tablet names and MKV. MKV is often used to rip DVDs and Blue Ray disks with menues and subtitles.

damn I tried buying this everywhere on BF. eventually I had to settle for the 1024x600 10.1" tablet at kohls, which I'm almost positive is going to disappoint (but at least I got it at under 100 bucks!)

you guys who got one are lucky!

Got 2 .. 1 for me and 1 for pops,..surfing on it now.

1st impressions;

Smooth on pretty much everythin u do.

Ran into issues with wifi but my room is other side of house (where router is)

A little laggy on web surfing. Any suggestions?

Gon probably use it as a bed side reader/surfer...... so far I'm happy with it

Edit: issues trying to post as well
Research into optimizing WiFi. For example, in 5 GHz band some channels (first and last ones) have more power than the rest (this tablet does not have 5 GHz band, but HP Touchpad does). Internal antennae router? Get one with real antennae or a repeater (Flash a cheap router with DD-WRT). Analyze the channels used by neighbors and switch to a more distant frequency. Some report better connection after disallowing 300 mbps in 2.4 GHz N band (=combining two 20 MHz channels into one 40 MHz channel). A lot of N clients cannot benefit from this enhancement anyway, e.g. Logitech Revue, Sony media players, lots of cheap HP laptops, most smartphones.

Glad to know it actually does have HDMI-out. I snagged 3 HP Touchpads (one for each member of the family) last year, so not having HDMI out on any tablet was annoying. I'll be rather impressed if it can run 1080p smoothly via HDMI-out.

It's ridiculous that Mach Speed can't even release an accurate spec-sheet.

Just spent half an hour on the tablet. Slow page loading is not an issue. Did not venture into side-loading Google Play market yet.

However, an app for Amazon Android Market installed easily after downloading the APK file right on the tablet: http://www.amazon.com/Amazon-com-...or+android

After that the Amazon Market app offered a number of free programs, including Kindle Books and some games.

After installing Kindle Books pulled onto the tablet all my Kindle library which existed on my another tablet. Have not figured out yet how to direct the books to microSD card instead of internal 8GB memory. Any ideas?

If indeed this tablet is a rebranded version of the Momo11 Bird this is great news as there is a wealth of ROMS which should really make this tablet pretty decent. I just sold a tablet with similar specs (Onda vi40) for $200. It worked like poo until I flashed a compatible version of CyanogenMod 10. The AllWinner A10 is good enough for surfing and video watching. There's no way though that this thing can actually run a 1080P type video as it doesn't have the specs for it. I'd also get it from Sears so you have a place to take it back to in case you get a bad tablet (QA with these China pads is dubious at best).

Can you point me in the right direction of this wealth of ROMs, on XDA, presumably? The only thing google has found for me is this generic cyanogenmod thread for all allwinner A10 tablets. http://forum.xda-developers.com/s...?t=1821398

And regarding 1080P playback, according to slickmig it works surprisingly well...

Could you possibly tell me how well it runs 720p youtube videos? 1080p as well if you wouldn't mind. I know it's kinda pointless to run 1080p, I just want to know how well it works!

Yeah, but that doesn't exactly tell me how smooth it is. Not a big deal. So long as it can run 720p it's obviously good enough for this screen resolution. HDMI-out with 1080p would be a nice bonus but hardly the purpose of the tablet.

Anyone having experience with skype with this tablet? I bought one from mygofer yesterday but have not gotten it yet. It is a gift for my parents doing skype video call, watching regular videos, a little bit of IM and social networking, and casual gaming.

Got one as well, and after some lengthy chat the card refunded too. Looking forward to rooting this.

Anyone know - Is this about as slow as a Nook Color, processor-wise?

Manufacturer (not OEM, but way better than MachSpeed):

There are also instructions and Windows software for flashing the ROMs.

I found this and many more searching Google for the keywords: Momo11 Birds ROM

Best Luck

I checked the benchmarks comparing this BF offer from Sears to Walmart's Nook TABLET (not Nook Reader) doorbuster. Apart from physical danger of shopping at Walmart, $99 Nook tablet has twice faster CPU, but slower GPU. Also the $99 version has only 512 MB RAM, which will make the upgrade path difficult. I believe the stock Android version is 2.3? The Android on Nook is highly customized and will require deep surgery to make it an all-around tablet, voiding the warranty. This Trio/Momo tablet has 1 GB RAM, bigger and higher resolution screen, HDMI-out, better gaming experience and more customizable software.

So at what point does this speculation that this is a rebranded MOMO11 Bird, turn from speculation to confirmation? I have a lot of experience with android and flashing roms/CWM/kernels etc etc but am not going to flash any momo11 bird rom until I get a confirmation. Especially since at this point we don't have CWM yet for whatever this thing is.

Nook Tablet is actually a lot faster device than the Nook Color he was referring to. Nook Tablet has a dual-core 1GHz OMAP4. The Nook Color has an 800 MHz ARM Cortex-A8-based TI OMAP3621 single core. I would imagine this tablet is likely a bit faster all around than the Nook Color.

That's good to hear... the NC is getting a bit laggy, even running at 1.2GHz.
