With that said - I got this one for $379 on Black Friday. http://www.officedepot.com/a/prod...-Computer/ It has a 900P Screen and a Blue-Ray : D Dont pay attention to the 1 review that shows 2 stars, when u actually click on the customer reviews - there are 4 reviews in total - and 3 out of the 4 are 4+ stars, and I dont really need any reviews to recognize a good deal on a good laptop, I think at $379 this was more than a great deal for the HP that I showed in the link. I missed the GC deal waiting for these to restock, but I was able to get one with the 20%. I've been using SlickDeals for a bunch of purchases and the OP's post is the best deal I've seen on a nice laptop. Anyone who has harassed the OP on this is part of the problem - IMO any 17" 1080P 3rd gen i7 with decent graphics HW for under $800 is absolutely a "Slick Deal" and if nobody likes the OP then I want his email address so we can share deals and eff the whiners.
As for the screen res, I remote into work sometimes. Laptops with less resolution are a real problem when dealing with the GUIs on certain systems I manage. Just because res means nothing to you doesn't make us nuts. Just like having the nVidia helps me run my CAD okay (res helps here too!). If you want a low-res, less feature-laden laptop then go on that deal's thread - don't come here and bash. 'less your entire personal value is in being a jerk. And that audiophile comment burns me too - some people are visual, some are audio-centric. Just because YOU don't observe something that someone else does certainly doesn't make it make-believe. fwiw, Dell Chat was able to give me the 20% without the code, just ask them. |

I bought the $645 one, didn't mind it not being 1080p. Know for a fact (from delays+tech support convos) that this was build for me, and not a reject from someone else. If/When there is a refurbished computer for sale, by law they have to tell you it's a refurb. AND they are not obligated to, but do it anyways, when you call tech and ask is this a reject or an open box, Dell's pretty good about telling you so.

I picked up the $645 one today (actually found one after they sold out), and I got the $150 off $599 though amex (the front page deal). Makes me kinda sad that I acted too fast and didn't get additional discount through gift cards or cashback. Could have been uber-slick. |

Same with the $645 model. |
