I have the AH panel and it looks great. Is that the better or worse one?
After reading several pages of posts in the AVS forums couldn't really tell. One person on there that seemed to know quite a bit about LED TV's said there really wasn't one. That just means they were made in different factories so you could get a bad one no matter what version your set had.
Best Buy is a large enough customer where they can have Samsung make a special model for them..perhaps missing a few features...like extra HDMI inputs. BB agrees to buy hundreds of TV's( at one buy) and Samsung gives them a great deal on a very large bulk buy and they change the model number one digit so no other reseller can compete
The TV is a really the same as another "standard" model internally...but it has every thing to do with BB buying hundreds and hundreds of these TV's and they change the model number so they dont have to compete against them selves in the marketplace.....ie...having to drop the price of their 6000 model's cost to every reseller
Sounds like a smart plan to me and they do it every year
Big Box stores...like Walmart /Sam's do the same thing and have for years
Samsung always does a line that you can only find at Sams/Costco
Its the same as their standard models...minus an HDMI input or something and sometimes has a different stand
I call that business 101
I would bet that this Tv at BB is 99% of the 6000 model....save yourself the $200 and buy the 6001..if 2HDMI inputs will work for you
I have no dog in this debate, but I tend to agree with this theory. Prime is example with Wal Mart product. Wal Mart is such a huge player, that they can demand a special model or version to be made from them from a manufacturer. Sometimes people are openly explicit by calling it a "signature line" other times, it's a bit more subtle like in this potential case. Either way, Best Buy may be willing to cut margins on one item such as TVs to draw in people. This is obviously the wrong board to ask this because we're slickdealers, but when was the last time you walked into a store and walked out empty handed? (once again..probably the wrong crowd to ask, but you catch my drift).
I will usually REP you for worthwhile replies.
Slickdeals I can remember so far.
Magnavox 42" 1080p $546 OTD (crossing my fingers that it's not crappy) Amazon GCs: $20 so far, Hyundai test drive $50, Mazda $25, Amex 75K points (~$750GC), $300GC CC for Vonage signup, WD Mybook 250GB = $20AR, that's all I remember for now.
