Just an FYI though... the owner of the camera needs to send $20 along w/ the warranty info for shipping and handling from the repair place to the owner. That said, the free tune up is worth the cost of this, so really it's a no brainer. |

From a Nikon D5100 and D800e user, I can say that the Pentax K-5 was the camera I wanted BADD!! It was too expensive at the time at over $1700 w/lens so I opted to get the d5100. I got the D800e as an upgrade a year later. I was already locked into the Nikon system.
If you just getting into DSLR, chose wisely as you end up being locked into one system due to the amount invested in lenses and accessories (mainly lenses since that's were the money goes). Going Pentax is the way to go since all your lenses are stabilized and you can buy lenses from way back when. What other lenses work on the pentax? Sony and Minolta lenses? |

Fantastic camera, amazing price!
Get yourself a * or a Limited lens and you'll see why people love Pentax ![]() And you'll love TAv mode, where you select aperture and shutter speed and let the camera choose the ISO. Shooting with my FA*300/4.5, I can set 1/125 and wide open, let the K-5 select up to ISO 3200, and I'm shooting after sunset without motion blur (for those birds which are out later in the evening). |

Now what do you get with more expensive cameras? Things like dual controls (to make adjusting aperture and shutter speed faster), pentaprism viewfinders with 100% view (which are brighter than pentamirror viewfinders which often will have less than a 100% view which means that what you see through the viewfinder will be slightly different than what is recorded), higher frame rates and larger buffers (which let you take more pictures in a row before the rate of your picture taking will slow), more rugged construction (the Pentax K5 uses a magnesium alloy which is considered a stronger material over plastic), ability to buy a battery grip, microphone inputs for better audio when in video mode, ability to adjust focus for each lens you own (up to 10), ability to customize buttons and dials, having a built in electronic level, being able to shoot at higher iso's with less grain than less expensive cameras, using 14 bit processing to give you a higher dynamic range than models that have 12 bit processing, weather seals to help your camera survive harsher environments, a top lcd screen to make knowing shooting info easier to see, a mode locking button to prevent accidental changes . I could go on, but let me just summarize: This camera is frigging awesome and is worth every penny at $700. It is a tool that will let you grow as a photographer for a LONG time. |

It is always better to read reviews because while on paper one camera can look superior, in reality the differences can be negligible. |
