edit.. looks like no one at my location knew how to properly scan these.. and I don't normally check for 4 pages of "updates" on staples X millionth FAR photo paper deal..

If they were trying to use them as coupons, then yes, they wouldn't work. Were they entering them as products/SKUs (which they should be doing) before total or scanning them as coupons after total?

I did not do this deal, but what is it with Staples Marketing that it comes up with all sorts of gimmicky variations on coupons that even their own store people cannot figure out. There really should be "no solution du jour" as you so nicely put it if there was an SOP. Why should a coupon even be scanned as a separate SKU? A coupon is a coupon is a coupon...Or, if it really has to be this way, then print the instructions on the coupon. Unless "Associate scan UPC before completing sale" means ring as SKU?

This separate SKU is not totally new, mind you. They use it for various things, but inconsistently. A kiosk order of mine was rung as SKU 999999 (or something to that effect) once. Screwed up my product-specific coupon because of course, it wouldn't recognize any "item".

True. The average customer would think it was a regular coupon and not hand it over until the end.

update - the rebate submission was automatically rejected, as expected due to dates

I called the mgr this morning and she's going to mail me a $10 in store coupon

works for me, I had paid with $10 in rewards, and was just trying to get rid of it by end of month

So I opened one of them and it didn't have a CD in it, just activation codes and what not...what gives? I left the other two sealed and I will go into the store tomorrow and figure it out. But can anyone advise on what to do? I have submitted rebates for them so a return and rebuy will make that invalid, and would I still be able to submit the rebate on the new softwares since the date purchased would be tomorrow?

The new TMs and McAfees don't come with a CD. Why are you returning/rebuying again? The software doesn't need to be activated or anything to get the rebate.

If you rebuy tomorrow you would not fall in the purchase window to qualify for the rebates.

So how do people install it? I'm not worried about the rebate, I'm worried about re-selling. BTW the ones I ordered online came with a CD in the regular box it usually comes in.

You go to their website, input the product key, download and install.
