anyone here opt for just flushing most stuff down the toilet instead of buying a waste disposal?

We installed this in our home when we bought it at the beginning of this year. This thing is a beast.

A couple of minor annoyances to me:
1. If you start the disposal without water running on accident, it makes a loud CLACK noise. This is normal from what I read, but very annoying.
2. The included splash guard doesn't let stuff go down, but I want it to! I usually have to push the gunk down. I guess it does too good of a job.

Everything else is positive. I try not to overuse my disposal, but everything I've tossed at it goes down with ease. There's no balance issues and for as powerful it is, it's quiet enough.

I waited to check my Disposal's specs and the contractor special installed was only 1/3 HP. So the 1/2 HP will be great. PLUS by the time I checked out the price dropped again to $50.79 at checkout. Winning.

Anyone know if there are replacement flanges or whatever it's called. The part that show when you're looking down into your sink. Chrome with stamped advertisements just doesn't look very appealing to me. Would love to get a more brushed look. Suggestions for reps!

You don't need an adapter. Just remove the 3-bolt mount and replace it with the EZ mount. You'll need plumber's putty if your sink is anything other than stainless steel.

You are going to clogged the drainage. When lived in a townhouse complex with multiple units sharing the same drainage pipe, I had sewage back flow once and flooded the basement. It was caused by chunks of food waste from my neighbor.

I am going to attempt to install this tomorrow. I do have a stainless steel sink, and had the insinkerator, before. So, as a pretty handy gal, should be easy, right? TIA for all your help..

Yes, it should be pretty easy. You shouldn't even need the plumber's putty, though for less than 2 bucks it doesn't hurt to have it on hand.

The installation manual also includes instructions to install a 3-bolt mount version of the Waste King disposal, so if you can't figure out how to remove it just by looking at it, you can follow those directions in reverse order to remove the existing 3-bolt mount.

If I remember correctly, you only need a slotted screwdriver to remove the 3-bolt mount, and a Scotch-Brite pad to clean off the old putty if there is any. You might have to pry and wiggle some of the tighter-fitting parts.

After that, just follow the directions in the manual to install. The EZ-mount should already be assembled properly and installed on the disposal from the factory, but you'll have to take it apart in order to install it in your sink. If you get stuck, there's a good YouTube video [youtube.com] that walks you through the installation, pointing out some common mistakes.
