I did a fair amount of research on this, almost bought the 3d version from dell but they were priced higher than other retailers. First off I would only get the 3d one, but that's my preference. Second, I've heard mostly good things about the picture. Third, the big problem is the bulb goes. If you watch tv a lot it'll go faster. Some have claimed a litttle over a year to replace the bulb. At 400 bucks or more, that's a bit pricey. And lastly, the size can be a problem for some. It's a dlp rear projection so you need space for it. Ultimately I almost got a 60 inch 3d hdtv, I forget if it was plasma or led lcd for 1197, but decided to wait till next year. We have 3 big screens already. I also considered a 3D projector from dell, along with a $125 120" screen. Total would have been under 650 before tax. But next year I'll probably be able to get a 70" led lcd 3d hdtv for under 1200, which is the deal I'm looking for.

It may be time to upgrade my 73" to this if I can get 15% cashback with Discover
And for the record, the bulbs from Mitsubishi's own website are only $120 shipped, nowhere near $400..and they usually last anywhere from 2 to 5 years, depending on TV useage There's also a way to get a free replacement lamp off the Mitsubishi site if ya say your bulb burnt out right before the year warranty is up. Worked like a charm on all 3 of my previous Mits TVs |

Just wanted to elaborate on why i sold my 82" mitsu dlp-
1) after installing a 10 foot screen with our 8350 projector we literally never used it 2) during the night the picture was outstanding but during the day it is washed out 3) viewing angles weren't great - so much better straight on with all that said this price is a great price for the tv but would never recommend anyone every buy it at any price |

Honest question: why(other than price)is anyone still buying DLP?? Not hating on you guys, I know the picture is nice. But no way would I go with DLP and the bulb issues that my buddy had with his Mitsu. Better off waiting for a deal on a 70 LED IMO...

This set makes a viable alternative to a mid-range projector. I am happy with my 720p projector setup in my basement theater, but this set would be pretty tempting if I was building it now. As far as the comments regarding pixilation - its a 82" screen. Its meant to be viewed from 8-10 feet away, not two feet away in a store display setting. This TV is meant for a home theater setup.
