Finally bit on one of these. Don't have to upgrade anything. Excellent. Buy Happier looks interesting... let's see if they are still in business in 3 years.

I'm sure this works as well as it's non-pet bretheren so I will chime in on my experience.

This thing is a stud on hardwood floors. I have two dogs that shed so much, there are literally dog hair tumbleweeds in the corners of all my hardwood floor rooms every single week. I bought the "non-pet" version awhile back and set it to run every other day. I haven't seen a single "tumbleweed" of hair since. No joke. It saves so much time that I think it's worth it hands down at $275. Also, unlike the old roombas, this thing scans the room and picks one continuous path instead of driving around aimlessly. It covered about 700 square feet of flooring in less than an hour and one battery charge. the only issue is that you have to empty it every time (if you have pets of course) but I still think it's worth the effort. As far as carpets are concerned, they looked pretty good but I only used it on carpet when the regular vacuum broke and I never did a "vacuum after vacuum" test so I couldn't tell you how well it worked.
