Didn't work - staff at my OD were told not to price match. Apparently I was the 10th person to try it.

Do you have the staples page printout that doesn't say it is OOS? Other problem is that it is an online only offer.
Those 2 things make it harder to PM.

Yeah and, according to them, it's also a special sale item so they don't match those either apparently. But I think it's hit or miss - your store may not care.

I love the people who have an unlimited list of excuses on why they can't price match. The "on sale" excuse is a great one. Like why on earth would I want to match to a crappy, non-sale price? Eventually with OD you sometimes get to the point where they say "that price is below our cost." I have no idea how to argue that one since they just flat out refuse to sell it "below cost." LOL I'm not much of a price matcher anymore, but sometimes it seemed like the only price that OD would match would be one that was HIGHER than the one on their shelf. (To be fair, I used to have some success with OD, too. So it was not all negative. But sometimes the chain of logic on the rejections just got silly.)

I hear you. I was about to fight it but when they mentioned that ten people before me had tried, I decided not to bother. Seems these HD deals get sweeter by the day anyway.

Yeah, guy tried to pull that on me at Office Depot, but I wasn't satisfied with that type of answer. I showed him my in-store reservation at Staples from 30min prior and he agreed to the price after making a mysterious call to check if they were "grey market". Got a 2TB Backup Plus and 2TB GoFlex Home NAS for ~$112 total.

Cancelled mine after I went to the store. I'll probably cry to customer service and see what I can get out of it.

Got the same message, luckily I picked it up before I got the message. Walked out within 5 min with the 2TB drive for $50

I also got the cancellation emails but was in store before that and they overrode the price to $45. Awesome!

I did the OD PM before the Staples web site updated to show OOS. The rep did the match for me over chat no problems. She seemed nice though. My shipment is slated to arrive on the 29th!
