I've been looking for a charger that can provide 2 amps for faster charging in the car. However from my experience they're very hard to find, anyone think the $15 is worth it just for the charger? Or do you know of cheaper car chargers that are more than 1 amp?

After reading negative comment about in car bluetooth performance, i decided to pass. I'll stay with cable connection for now.

I think it's clear that you don't understand the car unit. What about the millions of car radios that don't have a 3.5mm jack? Also, the BT eliminates the need to run wires to the stereo.

45 seconds to connect to BT? Obviously you are just making up numbers in an effort to support your statement. It takes my phone about 7 seconds to sync.... and it does it automatically.

Do I think this is a good unit? Nope.

There are very few devices that will accept 2Amp charge (I think the Note 2 does). Most phones are going to automatically limit it to 1Amp at the most.

I _highly_ doubt this is more then 1Amp... might even be less.

Will this also charge the iphone?

Well it advertises 10 Watts. As long as thats true (which I will admit I'm assuming ExtremeMac isn't lying), the amperage should be 2 amps since the output voltage is certainly 5V.

I have a Galaxy Nexus and use a 2 amp home charge and it charges quicker than a 1 amp charger. I dont really need a 2 amp car charger but I use my phone for gps and music while driving so 1 amp chargers have a hard time keeping up with the current draw. So even though its plugged into a charger the battery life still goes down instead of up.

How else do you get it to work in a car? I guess you could wire it directly into another input on the radio but most people can't access the rear of their radios. Don't you need a 3.5 line in to get this to work?

It's actually even clearer that you don't understand the unit.

The "millions" of car radios that don't have a 3.5mm jack can't use this "deal" It receives Bluetooth from a phone and then sends that via the 3.5mm jack to a head unit.

I wanted to need this, but I just don't see the point.

I have a different in-car Bluetooth solution. Wirelessly streaming podcasts from my iPhone without plugging/unplugging and being wired is definitely worth it. As for in-home use, I find Bluetooth range to be too limiting, and use/recommend AirPlay instead.

I use the old fashion cassette deck insert that plugs into the iPhone headset jack; I'm old school for $2.99.
