I realize this is a little off topic, but how do you like it? I am dealing with a 3-year old MacBook (I was told it's essentially a MacBook Pro) that I still love. It's just time to update.
Unibody or not makes the biggest difference (case, DDR3 / max RAM, multi-touch trackpad), .
If you have a 13", there was only one series of unibody MacBooks in aluminum (actually had a removable battery) that were released before all aluminum models became MacBook Pro.
This immediate predecessor to the 13" MacBook Pro are considered the same as the MacBook Pro in my eyes (name only).
Otherwise, the white (plastic) MacBook unibody is a great machine. Pretty much MacBook Pro performance without the case build quality.
Wikipedia has a nice description of various MacBook models: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macbook. You can also look at the MacBook Pro wiki to determine how your model differs. If you have the original 13" MacBook unibody, this is a nice machine (for its age). There were two versions: 2GHz Core2 Duo and 2.4GHz Core2 Duo. My daughter still uses here 2GHz model. The battery life in newer models is MUCH better (at least 2x).
I had one before I sold it to a cousin. It was when the 13" wasn't considered "Pro" yet but was aluminum and pretty much had the same options as the Pro models (except dedicated graphics, of course). They were mid '09 models.
Gonna try my luck at BB B&M today since Fry's Anaheim is showing in stock.
They had dedicated graphics, Nvidia GeForce 9400M. At this time, all pro models were larger in size. This was the predecessor to the 13" pro model.
I'm the original poster of this and I can verify that Best Buy will price match Fry's (at least over the phone). I'm typing on my new MacBook Pro that I price matched over the phone (their 1-800 number) and then picked up at my local store.
Wish I would have did a price match on the Air as well as I think I may want it instead.
I would be interested in that as well, submitted the lower price, but seems doubtful Amazon will drop it to 96x.xx again until Fry's get's it available online again. Also, does this BB price match work irregardless of whether a Fry's is nearby?
