Might depend on actual tuners though, and this is an i7-920, but based on this review extenders dont use much cpu, just make sure to put enough ram in it
Good point, I didn't say anything about what the incoming signals are.
It will be running Sickbeard and downloading a lot of various TV episodes as they become available, recording off an OTA antenna with two of those little coax connected, USB tuners (I forget the brand), and recording from cable with a 3 tuner HDHomeRun Prime.
And. like I said, the outgoing will be 4 Xbox 360's as media extenders.
So, at any given time it could conceivably be recording 4 HD streams, downloading a few TV program episodes and serving 4 Xbox 360's.
Well the G645 is not on the official CPU support list. Which is what scared me away from it. While it might work, if it doesn't you cant call Foxconn and yell at them thinking they will release a new BIOS just for you.
The G550 for $35, which is supported, is the best cost to performance ratio out there. My Passmark was 2573 or something...it flies on all basic tasks, plays HD video, and very light gaming. I was happy to see that it played the Sims 3 on mostly medium settings.
Best of luck. Let me know if it works... I plan on building another one soon.
I cannot get the optical drive to fit. When I try to put the front face plate on it the optical bay gets in the way, even on the furthest setting from the front. Might have to go without an optical bay.
