I got a confirmation email that said I got the "36 Truffles 24 Petits Fours" (AG1347) & the 4 mini treats (AG1352 [qty 2], AG1355 & AG1356), but when I check my order on line using the URL in the email, it tells me "Free offer limit exceeded" for the 4 mini treats.
Ordered too and they took away my extra gift. I emailed them and asked why their website allowed me to add it and then remove it on the confirmation email. They responded:
Thank you for contacting Customer Service.
We offer a free gift to our customers because we value their business. Each customer is entitled to redeem one coupon per year.
We appreciate your understanding.
They lost my business. Cheers to those who received both gifts, but I'm guessing they will do the same to all orders.
Same thing happened to me with the FSI code. All 4 showed up on my order confirmation (along with the truffles and petits fours), but then the final invoice said "Exceeded Limit on Free Offers". Still getting the important part, as my fam loves the petits fours. Thanks op. Not your fault that the Colony feels like they can do whatever they want with our orders after we place them.
This was my 3rd year ordering from Swiss Colony, I was satisfied/pleased with the previous years, just got the amended order confirmation removing 1 freebie and canceled the entire order. I would say if you could get the 2 sets of freebies it would be worth it. Otherwise just a warm deal, definitely not slick.
Certainly not blaming the OP for posting a good deal but, The Swiss Colony pulled what is pretty much bait and switch.
I placed the order for Merry Christmas petit fours and two free offers(pick 4 and the offer for 36 Truffles and 24 Petits Fours) When I hit submit, all of the items were shown as part of the order (nothing marked as exceeded free items) and total of 25.95.
Next day, I get an emailed order confirmation showing the same items, same price, but the pick 4 free offer was marked as "Exceeded Limit on Free Offers".
So I called to find out if those items were going to ship or not. When they told me that they were not going to ship and were going to charge me the same price for the partial order, I told them to cancel my order then. They told me that the modified order already shipped.
I got transferred to a manager and I told him only three options were acceptable to me, don't ship(too late for that), ship the whole order(they were not going to do that), or I can send back the modified order at their cost and get a refund for the full amount. He was pretty rude, making comments about how I should have known they only allow one free offer per year and how I could "add anything at the order confirmation screen. Why not add a million dollar? Doesn't mean we'll ship it." That last one really got to me and I pointed out that it was their website that produced the order that I agreed to submit, not mine.
In the end I reiterated that modifying an order after I agreed to it without confirming the modification with me first is not acceptable, and probably not legal. He threw out all kinds of stuff like I should pay to ship it back, or "just donate it to a charity, get a receipt from the charity, mail/fax that receipt back to them and then, they will refund my money"... eventually that may have worked out, but not what I signed up for. I'll donate my own money and time to charity, but not to cover for their mistake. He also said "just enjoy your free chocolate, that's what you want, isn't it". I was done at that point. I should have done a charge back, but I let him off with a credit back to my account of half the purchase price.
Unbelievable. Never again will do business with that company.
(Modified to make clear that I am in no way blaming the OP for the actions of a crummy company)
