I have some gutter downspouts that are screwed into brick...if those come loose can I put in a new screw with this kit? Not necessary drilling a new hole, but possibly increasing the screw one size into the existing hole? sorry I'm a newb

1.5ah and 3.0 ah 20v will work on any 20v Dewalt tool. Just different size and the bigger will last longer...

18v are a different battery connection and work with all 18v tools (they are Ni-Cad and Lithium Ion in different sizes, etc..)

But short answer is the same voltage battery will work with all of the same voltage tools...

Exactly, Dewalt named the new batteries 20v so people would know that they could not use them with their current/older 18v tools. The only difference is the shape of the battery. They are all 18v on the inside. The older tools are not going away and batteries are going to still be for sale for a long time.

Amp Hours (AH) are a measure of how much energy is stored in the battery. The bigger the number, the longer it will last.

good to know - i knew they changed the battery connection (ammo clip style vs slide-in) but I wasn't sure about the Ah's.

I picked up that impact driver to complete this kit... I imagine 3.0Ah batteries will be plenty for around the house.

I have a Dewalt 18V drill and light. I was going to buy the 18v impact driver with nicad battery but, I refuse to invest any further in old outdated nicad technology. If I had the money, I would spring for this in a second. Any good drilling arsenal should have a drill, an impact driver and in a perfect world a hammer drill. Ahh some day maybe.

Any help on how the one in this thread compares to this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...04_s00_i02 would be greatly appreciated. I bought my husband the one on Amazon for Christmas, but if the on in this thread is better, I may send it back. TIA!

To add, he doesn't use drills all that often, couple times a year...

this one is far better I have this drill but the hammer version, its very nice, and the 3.0ah batterys are great

Another option is to get the 18v Lithium Ion Batteries and then you can preserve your investment. But, I think this deal is close to price you would pay for two batteries and this puts you in their new line and future tools. Not that 18v goes away that quickly...

I have this set, very happy with it. The 12v can drive deck screws into wet pressure treated 4x4 no problem. Great battery life. Some surprising kick from the 12v when it turns off.
