Original Post

Best deal I have found as HomeDepot.com has $25.00 off $100.00 and free shipping on the DEWALT 20-Volt Max Lithium Ion Premium Drill Driver / 12-Volt Max Screwdriver 2-Tool Combo Kit DCK295L3

Link [homedepot.com]

I didn't need Hammer function and this is the better quality drill/driver and comes with TWO of the 3.0 ah 20v Batteries. The DCD980 Drill/Driver Kit goes for $259.00 alone on Amazon...so for $174.00 you get that plus the 12v screwdriver with battery as a bonus!

Price: $199.00 - $25.00 = $174.00 and Free Shipping (tax additional)

This code reported as Expired: (Used code "CMHD2012" for $5 of $50 purchase to bring total down to $169.00 - Thanks to Pctek4456!)

This comes with:
20V MAX DCD980 premium drill/driver
(2) 20V MAX 3.0 Ah batteries
12V MAX DCF610 Screwdriver
(1) 12V MAX battery
12V/20V fast charger
bit tip
belt hook
contractor bag.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
The DCK295L3 is a unique kit featuring a 20V MAX Lithium Ion Drill/Driver and 12V MAX Screwdriver Combo. Both tools are part of DEWALT's MAX platform using the same DCB101 12V/20V Charger. The MAX systems are a great compliment to one another - the 12V MAX can be carried via the belt hook throughout the day to provide a perfect lightweight solution for the smaller fastening applications while the 20V MAX provides the power, torque and speed to complete the all of the heavy-duty applications. The DCK295L3 includes: 20V MAX DCD980 premium drill/driver, 12V MAX DCF610 Screwdriver, (2) 20V MAX 3.0 Ah batteries, (1) 12V MAX battery, 12V/20V fast charger, bit tip, belt hook and contractor bag.

DCD980 20V MAX drill/driver with patented 3-speed all-metal transmission and 1/2 in. self-tightening chuck delivers 535 units watts out of maximum performance, faster application speed, and superior bit retention

A 12v driver is all you need unless you're running studs into a deck (although some 12vs can even handle that). Beyond a 12v driver is an 18v impact driver.

I just got this:
http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5...LZcToaPvps

Had 3 contractors at home depot going on and on about how awesome the ridgid tools are and how much they love using theirs (but given your use, either one of these will be good) The biggest selling point for me about the ridgid set was that it has a lifetime warranty which includes the batteries.
I have these Ridgid ones and they're awesome.

I won't consider Ridgid until they start selling an impact wrench.

Is the DEWALT set better than this Ryobi set? If so is it worth the price difference?

ryobi has the widest selection of tools (By far) compared to other cordless tool sets.

i have done a lot of DIY stuff (definitely above average) and the ryobi tools have always performed well for me.

I'm sure you do, you spent some scratch on that. I'd love to have a Snap-On set of anything, lol.

I agree, I really like my Ryobi tools and will continue to buy them. However, we have Dewalt at my job and that stuff is far more powerful. For my uses, its not worth the extra cost. That said, I use my tools far more than the average home user. Car maintenance, hobbies, projects, etc.

I bought a Bosch 6 years ago, which has been great, one of 5 tools had an issue and it was fixed no problem at a local facility (which also does DeWalt) But the main reason this Dewalt is so sweet is it's powerful (when compared to the others in the store) but not as heavy as my Bosch. The 20 Volts are strong but lighter. They still feel solid. I bought this set full price, but thanks for the post, I can save a few dollars on it.

there is a time and place for Snap-On stuff. I use it on alot of my cars and others so it was worth it. Not bad having a close friend being a dealer either...

Also, just a heads up. There is no such thing as a 20v battery pack. This is no different than the 18v lithium ion setup that is in everything else.

Picked up the DCK290L2 from amazon yesterday (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...00_s00_i00). Let me know if any deals come up on that - not too late to cancel. I need a hammerdrill - my whole house is made of cinderblock.

Just catch a deal one of these [sears.com] or something similar. I've had mind get bound up while set to drill no clutch and it damn near broke my wrist.
